Dog chew toys that don't get them in trouble: Add your dog's favorites! (Thanks, daisee)

1. Fun stuff
- We leave empty cardboard boxes for the dogs to chew up. Also these loofah bones (cleans their teeth while they rip them apart) and TONS of cat toys (with catnip). (from veritableqndry)

2. Hard-to-destroy stuff

-At dollar tree they carry "milkbone" toys... she beats the hell out of them and still they hold up. (not to mention their only a buck if they destroy them) (from wakethewicked2)

- I've had good luck with these -- the avatar dog has destroyed everything but this kind. They come in different sizes and shapes and you can put treats inside for them to dig out: http://www.petmountain.com/produc...-kong.html . I get mine at a local farm store, but I'm sure you could get them at places like Pets Mart if you don't want to buy online. (from callpocket)

- Here are a couple that have survived Sophie so far:
  • Busy Buddy bouncy bone - We gave up on the rawhide inserts. She rips those out in seconds but likes the toy without them anyhow and cannot kill it.)
  • Everlasting treat ball -Again she pulls out the expensive inserts right off the bat...but she likes bouncing the toy. You can also hide dog kibble in the middle for the dog to try to get out, which entertains him for awhile. She hasn't managed to rip this one at all yet even though it feels soft and flexible.
  • Jolly Ball: - Ours is bigger than the one at this link. It's hysterical to see her stick her snout in the hole and wave the ball in the air. It's bigger than her head. She runs around the house with it on her snout, growling and acting like a maniac. I don't know why she can't chew it up, but she can't.
  • Then there are big Nylabones, which she can kill eventually. But they take a long time to die. (from olu)

I left Tails out on friday when I came home from lunch then went back to work. So from 1pm till 4 pm, he managed to break into the guest room and eat 4 golden cakesters and carmels from WAGS. at least it wasnt original cakesters. DH mentioned that today he threw up some wrappers. oh yay,.

Go Tails!

What my dog rolled in today: A rotting dead bird. Two baths has not touched the stench. She will be disappointed when she finds out there's no way she's sleeping in our room tonight. That dog bed's going right outside the shut bedroom door.

Ours used to do this a lot back when we put peanut butter in her dog toys as a treat. I guess the peanut scent carries all the way through the dog, ugh. We stopped and she got better...but some dogs just do this no matter what.

Well, she lost all her tags this weekend while she way playing with a buddy. I hope she didn't eat any of them.

At the Humane Society replacing her tags, I saw a very cute little bulldog getting turned in for adoption. I was ready to take her home with me till I found out she has a separation anxiety problem that makes her eat things too: Last straw was when she ate the utility room floor. I think one chewing dog in our family is enough. But she sure was cute.

Tails keeps on eating his fleece blankey. Pink, mind you, silly boy. When I go sit in the computer room, he drags it in there. Then I will get up and go to the bedroom, he drags it in there. Settles down on it, and munches. Fantastic. He has had the blankey for a year and still hasnt died from fleece poisoning.

a lighter, chapstick, bag of treats, matches, some mail, and dice.

Tails isnt allowed out of his kennel when we leave anymore. We were gone like 2 hours and he had a stuffed kong. what a jerk.

We gave her one of those flying slingshot pigs that oinks when it lands. She's been fetching it endlessly. She hasn't harmed a hair on its little acrylic body all weekend. She carries it around like a little pet and sleeps with it between her paws. Can't believe this is the same dog who can eat through external telephone wires and shred a dish towel as soon as look at it.

She stole a foam football--was so disappointed when we took it away before she could rip it up!
