This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

I'll just post a pic of the front for now. I don't want to jinx myself laugh out loud I am using NACA (Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America) It's a great program. To qualify you have to go to a workshop (about 2 hours). Thats it. no income qualification (well, low to moderate/medium) If you make 500,000 they probably wouldn't take you...anyway the best part is no down payment, no closing costs, no PMI insurance, and the interest rates are always 1 pt below the current rate. Today it is 4.5%. You buy any house you want, any where you want. hopefully they will take my offer and I'll be able to buy the interest rate down to 3 or 3.5.

here's the pic:

Ooooooh that is pretty!! I LOVE the stone & the greenery ... big window too! I am doing a rain dance for you as I type ... makes both the typing and the dancing pretty un-coordinated though! laugh out loud I never heard of the NACA ... must go and look it up! That sounds like a great deal! Do you work thru your bank - or do they have their own lenders? Can you set up a 30 year fixed, or is it only ARMS? Oooh I hope you get it!!!

PS - I second, does it have a stockpile room?

This is a new TCC classic!!!

We should start and album of greatest hits (or misses, as the case may be); the Oompa Loompa remix and my version of the Wonder Pets theme song can be the first two tracks.

Good to see you back up to snuff and with enough free time to post (heaven knows I understand not having enough time in the day).
hug ABSOLUTELY - Let's put together a classic hits for TCC! With a groovy pic of the Wonderpets in the Flyboat with a couple Oompa Loompas! Hee hee!

Yes - never enough hours in the day - I know we are all like that. hug

I know, I don't want to feel pressured into something I may not really like just for the refund..although the refund would be nice. i'm still confused about it. I don't think everyone gets 8,000. It depends on what you paid in right? say you only paid in 4,000 in taxes...you only get that amount back right?

ETA: Whee Whee I just googled it. I will get almost the full 8,000.
"For example, if a qualified home buyer expected, notwithstanding the tax credit, federal income tax liability of $5,000 and had tax withholding of $4,000 for the year, then without the tax credit the taxpayer would owe the IRS $1,000 on April 15th. Suppose now that the taxpayer qualified for the $8,000 home buyer tax credit. As a result, the taxpayer would receive a check for $7,000 ($8,000 minus the $1,000 owed)."

I had to pay 350.00 in taxes, so I'll get 8,000 less 350.00. DM we must keep the fire lit under out tushes on this one Whee

Teri, try Zillow.com. That will show you pretty much everything in whatever area you're looking at.

OK... I'm a little late to the game - what else is new! You can still go to this site and put in the address of "the new house" to find info for the surrounding homes. You can also see the "zestimate" (Zillow Estimate) of value and the approx valuation change over the past 30 days. It's interesting stuff, I think. But, that's jmo.

Wait a minute, I'm re-reading your post and if I'm reading this correctly, the tax credit is for the 2009 tax year (that's the year you will be closing on the purchase). The $350 you had to pay last year doesn't mean anything for 2009 taxes. If you only had to pay $350 last year, this year you will have real estate taxes and interest to offset that tax liability (assuming you had the same exact liability this year) therefore bringing your liabilty into the refund category and therefore bringing you a check for $8,000. I'm no tax attorney and don't know anything about your personal finances, but this is how it SHOULD play out.

By the way, GOOD LUCK on your offer!!! It's quite exciting and a lot of work owning your own home - well worth it though!! hug

Hi guys. I found a nice MQ peelie at one of my Target stores. It is $.55 off any Gerber Graduates foodi tem and on the inside of the peelie there is a picture of the single serve Gerber Graduates microwaveable meals. It starts with a 5, so if your store doubles, they would be free or almost free. They don't expire until 3/31/2010. I am looking to trade for these if anyone finds them and doesn't need them! Big Grin

I also found a new (to me at least) TQ peelie on Fisher Price potty seats for $5 off any Fisher Price Amazing Animals, Brillaint Basics, Laugh&Learn, GoBabyGo and Stack'n Surprise Blocks $14.99 or higher, expires 2/9/2010.

Hey did you all see this about BOGO baby einstein movies at BRU/TRU?

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1577367

Apparently you can get 2 BE dvds for $4.99 after the store promos. This is before adding the $10/2 MQs and the 15% BRU single item cpn. I am definitely going to try this tomorrow and usually my BRU is great about stacking cpns. Unfortunately, it ends tomorrow as well.

Don't worry INAA: I still have plenty of these peelies for you! Big Grin

I need to hold a funeral for the Kleenex Q guys, b/c it is officially dead at my KM. Sadwalk

Beeped for price again; 2nd time in two tries, and I now give up.

Rest of my KM run went great but that was a dealbreaker.

Teri, the house looks gorgeous and I cannot believe that fantastic deal you are getting. That is really amazing. Big Grin

Yes. 2 extra rooms and storage in back. I'd rather have a garage, but to get the area of town I want that I can afford has been impossible. This area is one of the most expensive because of the location.

dpags, thanks for the zillow info. Very interesting. They are selling for a good bit lower than they bought 4 years ago. Wonder why they would sell when the market is down and take a loss Scratchchin

Thanks Dia, it's not stone though. It's brick. Lots of brick in Charleston. In fact when WM built the new supercenter the city made them build it in brick. Can ya believe, a nice looking walmart laugh out loud

Wow, lots of stuff to think about.
