Damn, it keeps getting worse. It has probably happened here before but I don't remember ever seeing 35 inches of snow predicted from one storm in November before.

We have about 7 or 8 inches so far since about noon.

I lucked out - they had predicted 9 to 12 and so far only about 4 - think it went farther north of us - we ended up with more rain and ice - but driving with snow tires on was no problem - what scares me is the people with out the snow tires.

I took these at about noon today. We got maybe another 6 to 8 inches since then and it is still supposed to keep snowing overnight. As far as storms go it is pretty mild. Some blowing and drifting but mostly just steady snow.

It looks like we got some snow this morning here in Kentucky, but it was really light and barely noticeable.

One area nearby where they do an official measurement ended up with 42.5" since Monday. At my house I would estimate between 26" and 30" with some drifts 3 to 4 feet deep.

Awful stuff to move around--I spent a couple hours before work yesterday and got everything at my house at least opened up but I still have to knock everything back later or I won't have room to put snow for the rest of the winter. I haven't even attempted to plow out my shop yet. I drove in there to get a tool Tuesday night and I was pushing snow with the headlights on my truck. I don't have enough gas for my plow truck so that is going to have to wait until I get in to town to pick some up (plow truck isn't licensed so I have to fill it with cans).

It is supposed to stay down in the 20s for high temperatures so I will probably let the rest go until next week when I have a couple of days off. I hate trying to get anything done in the mornings when I am afternoon shift. If it was going to get much above freezing I would have to get it moved before it melted down and then later froze into solid ice.

I'm a little north of buffalo and we actually didn't get any snow. It was really eerie tho. Looking up outside my home it was blue skies and sun all day. When looking out south, about 5 miles away was a huge wall of clouds apparently dropping multiple feet of snow. I wish I had snapped a picture of the difference just a few miles made.

The cloud wave is expected to shift North so tomorrow is gonna be an interesting day Cold

That's one of the awesome things about lake-effect snow. The terrain and slight differences in the wind direction can create almost a perfect line where the snow starts and ends. Here when they are predicting a lot of lake-effect we won't get much more than a dusting if the wind is from the NW. If the wind shifts from the North we could get quite a bit more, but if it comes in more from the NE we will get dumped on.

And in those rare extremely cold winters where Lake Superior freezes almost completely over it's like flipping the switch off on the lake-effect snow.
