Sleep Study Tonight! Who's ever had one? (Try to limit the OT's 'cause I'm nervous!)

So I'm getting a sleep study done tonight. I'm nervous about it. I have to be at the center at 9:00 pm. I can just picture myself lying there, hooked up to machines, flat on my back while scientists in white coats peer at me and say "Sleep, damn you! SLEEP!!" I will never sleep tonight Sadwalk

"Patient came into room at 9:00 PM. Reported seeing angels and scary killer clowns. She kept referring to Dr. Brown and Dr. Texazz and called him an asshat several times. Reports are inconclusive as of this point as to what that means. Then subject proceeded to rub one out, drink a fifth of vodka with 5 Sominex. Soon after she put on some black lingerie and made a sign saying "Hi SlickDealers" and another with a heart that said in the middle "TR? I'd hit it Thumbup" Subject never went to sleep, she just laid there giggling. Follow up study is required."

I had one. It was no biggie. I went, they attached these little electrode like things to me. I was in a room similar to a hotel room, but with medical equipment. I watched tv until I fell asleep. Woke up, they unhooked me, I showered and went home.

I've done one. In fact, I'm thinking that you and I are leading parallel lives. laugh out loud

What do you want to know about it?

They put leads with wires all over you, and they attach them to a box. This makes it a little difficult to sleep. They also film you while you're sleeping, but overall, it's not that bad.
Take a good book (or a boring one that will put you to sleep), a good CD that you like to sleep to, your own pillow, fave PJs, and anything else that will help you sleep (socks, sweatshirt, teddy bear Big Grin ). Also, PEE BEFORE they put the leads on you and before you go to bed. Once they hook that box up, you have to call for someone to take you to the bathroom, and it's a real pain.

Oh, and for Heaven's sake, shave and lose some weight. Wink

Finzz, good luck with your sleep study, my daughter had one when she was 5 years old she had severe sleep apnea. I got to stay with her during her's, she watched abit of tv and then fell asleep. They have wires hooked up to you, a camera watching you and there is also a microphone in the room, it was pretty dark & quiet I even slept easily.
