Q's CVS Lounge

I changed the name of the thread because I think that Q's CVS Lounge gives a better representation of what the thread is about. This isn't a deals thread although I will sometimes be posting deals. I'll probably talk more about Transylvania and the stock market than I will about the drugstores but the main thing is that is that I want this to be a cool place to hang out.

I don't think so on Oprah but what do I know? Under Armour stock is down 6% on an earnings beat. It's because the profit margin was 48% instead of 49% on a billion dollars. What company wouldn't want to make 48% profit on a billion dollars? It's the stupidest thing I've ever seen. I'm watching the stock to see if it starts going back up. Oprah is at 14.80 right now. Resistance is at 14.50. If it drops down to that point and then starts to go up, I'm in for a quick ride.
Yes, DH was fan of his years ago when his book Beating the Street came out. I think thats the one we have.... ANyway, fans of Fidelity, too. Interesting bio.

I looked at Joey but my Qs were for adult entrees. I got one meal with a big steak & we shared it
He got the mashed tatoes and we shared veggies
made salads -I've been saving the last red pepper & tomato from the garden
and some soup.
I was going to make baked tatoes in the crockpot but forgot. I have a bag of organic ones and am potato challenged when it comes to cooking them. Baked MAY come out right, but I'm usually waiting for them to finish cooking while the rest of the meal gets cold. So good mashed are a treat for him.

get extra gas points for GC purchases on one of my Safeway cards, so I got a GC and went to Outback to place my order in person, telling the guy I'd be back in 45min-hr. He'd already put it in without asking me when I'd pick up! Told me it would be ready in 15min.
then DH had a carpool problem & had to take light rail, which made him 15min after I expected. It was still kind of warm when we got home but that was annoying.

His present was a bag of Pumpkin Snaps from Sprouts. I didn't even do a card this year.
HAHAHA Yes! I know everything now, and unfortunately for you I'm not only the Law but I'm also the Order. EEK! I guess I'll sentence you to a week of shopping with beeping coupons for your past crimes.

How do you make baked potatoes in a crock pot? After 4 hours wouldn't they end up more like mashed potatoes? It seems faster to do it in the oven or microwave even.

Pumpkin snaps? Like gingersnaps? World Market has the BEST gingersnap tins that only come out 2 times a year and they have tasty lemon snaps too. Anyway, hope he enjoyed the gift we got him. LMAO

I don't have any silly names for things. I just put initials...or Valued Customer. I guess I should step up my game.

Does anybody sell on ebay? I'm thinking of listing some collectible books for Christmas and I've got some questions. Does paypal still have the $20,000 limit before you have to pay taxes? It looks like on shipping that even if you have delivery confirmation the item has to be received in order for the seller to receive credit (so if the post office loses the item, you're out of luck). Is this correct? I guess you can add on insurance to cover the potential loss. A bigger issue is that you have to be able to prove that the item you shipped is the item in the listing. Lots of customers play games and I don't want to ship out a signed first edition of Fight Club and have somebody say the it was an unsigned reprint. Even if you take pictures, I don't know how you prove that the item you shipped is what you took a picture of. This could be a huge issue for me. Any ideas on how to deal with this? Anything else that I should know about? Is printing postage from paypal still the best way to do it? I haven't sold anything on ebay since 2008 so I know the basics but I'm definitely rusty...

Did Cena get hurt? He was supposed to wrestle on this Sunday's ppv. I was born in KC but I'm not really a Royals fan. I used to be a huge Dodgers fan but not so much now. Mostly boxing and UFC these days. If Canelo beats Cotto, he says he'll fight GGG. They'll have to figure out a weight to fight at but that should be some match. I think Canelo will destroy Cotto. Canelo fights the toughest opponents while Cotto's recent fights have been set-ups (like an obviously over the hill Martinez).

Oh, I got the Billy Graham reference but I can't figure out if it's the wrestler (Superstar Billy Graham) or Bill Graham of the Fillmore West (San Francisco music scene).

pretty sure you pay taxes almost immediately. friend who regularly does yard sales sold some stuff on ebay and didn't like it b/c of taxes.

You pay all sorts of fees with ebay and paypal which take a big chunk out of your profit. They come out immediately. You'd pay taxes at the end of the year. As I understand it, paypal does not report the first $20,000 of income but it also has something to do with the # of listings you have. Most of the collectible booksellers I know are no longer on ebay. I need to find out if it's due to poor sales, high fees, taxes, customer fraud, and/or seller unfriendly policies. Here's the biggest problem. I ship out a signed first edition that sells for $1000. The customer substitutes it with an unsigned reprint that he got at a library sale for $1. The customer claims that I shipped him the $1 book instead of the $1000 book. It's up to me to prove that I shipped the $1000 book but how do I do that? I can take pictures but I can't prove that the book I took pictures of is what was in the box. The customer will win and I'll be out the $1000. If the customer does this over and over again with other sellers, he may get kicked off ebay but he can always switch identities and continue on. This wouldn't ever happen if you're selling shampoo but people are going to scam you when it comes to collectibles. In the past, fraud has mostly happened on overseas sales. I absolutely refuse to ship overseas no matter what. It's not worth the risk and all of the policies favor the buyer not the seller. It's like you're saying here, take the book for free. Now it looks like the domestic policies are also way too much in favor of the buyer. I realize that some sellers are crooks but I've got legit books and I don't want to get ripped off. I may be totally wrong on this but this is the impression I got from reading the policies. I'm also concerned about the # of sellers who have left ebay. If things were good, they'd still be there.

P&G reported earnings this morning and their sales are down 12% for the quarter. P&G stock was down 19% this year but recently gained back 4%. I'm pretty sure that will be wiped out although investors like P&G because of the 3% dividend. It's obvious that P&G's lousy coupons and crappy policies (like limits and fraud alerts in bold red) aren't working and are just pissing customers off. I only buy P&G products now when I absolutely have to (in other words, when they pay me to take it). I love Fusion razors but why would you ever buy one with all of the Schick deals? Schick also makes very good razors. I think you'll find that with all P&G products. The competition makes products that are just as good but are priced lower. The days of people paying a premium on P&G products are over. The only P&G product that I can see people paying extra for is Tide but P&G has reduced it's value by coming out with yellow Tide and blowing it out every week for $2.

A classic example of the downfall of P&G is Pantene. Pantene used to be a hot brand. No longer. They raised sale prices from 3/$10 to 3/$12 for a product that nobody really wants and most of the hot coupons only have a 2 week expiration now. Pantene is almost always a pass for me. I can't remember the last time I bought Old Spice and Secret and I'll only buy Olay if they're giving it away. Ok, rants over... laugh out loud
