My sister does counted cross-stitch too. She's won many awards at the state fairs of Alaska with her work.

I have one she did for me of polar bears looking up from the ice at the northern lights - when you turn the lights off in the room the northern lights glow in the dark. I have another of campers around a campfire at night.
