I'm sure it's been mentioned and buried but extended warranty benefit goes away next month which sucks
Uhh yeah I have an Amex, this is not true lol
I'm sure citi fought hard in the bidding process to beat Amex to get the Costco account. Part of the terms were probably to offer better benefits for the customer....

The terms to what is considered a "gas purchase" is quite ridiculous. Every gas station now has a convenient store aspect to their business, so there is no longer any standalone gas stations.
Based on their terms/conditions only Costco fuel stations count towards the 4%.
I looked in my statements - Costco Fuel, Ralphs Fuel and Chevron are all counted as Automated Gas Dispenser category. I guess it depends if you pay at the pump or in store?
Have multiple Citi cards from last 15 years, not a single issue. Indeed i prefer them than those like Discover, Amex..
They have very good no-annual-fee cards like Double Cash, Costco, Custom Cash and Dividend but whenever you do something more complicated than buy stuff and pay back strange things start to happen. It's like some through-the-looking-glass land or something!
I don't think so, 3% is pretty high on restaurants, and 4% on gas. The cards with rotating categories will beat these for 1/4 of the year, for example Freedom offers 5% on gas right now until April 1, but I don't think there's a 4% yearly gas card for no fee.
I recently opened a warranty claim on a $175 device. They have asked me for the original invoice and a repair estimate which can only be got from the manufacturer. It seems too much work to go through the repair estimation to satisfy them. I am curious if people have different experiences or they have handled this request in a different way
My experience was straightforward. This was in 2021. The card documentation says that it has to be a manufacturer repair, but when I actually talked to the warranty claim person, they were ready to reimburse me for a repair at any authorized business in their network, which included ubreakifix, etc. I did end up sending the phone to the manufacturer (they provided shipping materials and label), because I wanted it done properly. Provided the invoice to the claim service and was promptly reimbursed. I was expecting it to be a much bigger hassle than it was.
No more extended warranty with this card. It ended January 23, 2023. If you bought stuff before this date- it has it. But all new purchases are not valid for this feature.
Trying to shift purchases out of this card, since Our Costco/gas spend + executive membership should cover membership costs. Primary reason is the once a year redemption is getting old.
Considering between Savor One and Amex Gold for dining/groceries. Savor One is leading because well, free. Have BOFA for cashback catch-all otherwise.
Wife preferred one card method which is why the Citi was used so much, but that's not ideal.
Are there other cards I'm missing? TIA

can you qualify for the Platinum Honor tier at boa?
those cards are the best if you can qualify.

I have. That's why BOFA Unlimited Cash (also have the Custom, set to online shopping for now) is my catchall non category spend now. Any specific ones? I was looking at Travel Rewards or the Premium one with AF. Not sure if their point is transferable like UR/MR.

get more Customized Cash cards and set each one to a different category. that'll cover gas, online shopping, and dining. Use online shopping to get costco gift cards. they even have egift cards now.
Premium Rewards is great if you travel occasionally. that'll basically cover the AF, and 2.625% cashback for everything.

I personally love your idea. I just have to finesse it in a way that's wife friendly. I'm imagining 3x Red color identical cards with printed labels marked Gas, Online Shopping, and Dining. She would probably not do it altogether and just pull out whatever card and swipe it.
Thank you Tim.

if the red cards are too boring you can switch it up. The Nature Conservancy one looks cool.
a few on that list are dead. there used to be a ton more but it looks like bofa is reducing the partner cards.
they're basically the same card, but just different logo.
and since you're already platinum preferred you're credit score is probably really good and you should have no issues getting multiple cards. They will probably reallocate your credit but for me it's wasn't a big deal. I dropped the customized cash cards to basically $3k each. ($2500 max per quarter for the 5.25% cashback)
also just to add those branded cards will get you around bofa's card limits. you can only get 1 customized cash card every 2 years, but the branded cards aren't counted as part of this. also they have a 2/3/4 rule. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/ht...ta-points/
and i haven't checked recently but i think these cards all still have extended warranty.

I bought a washer dryer set that I'm returning this month but wanted to buy another set that doesn't take up to 3 hours of drying time. So if I buy the new set this month it won't be covered?

I just got a Costco membership.

What is the logic behind waiting? Nobody knows your situation. There's no fee, so what is your reservation?
