Did you go out last weekend to a hotel and use money for the ferry/gas/food? What about last week? Last month? Anytime this year? If not, he's not spoiling you as much as he thinks he is.

Yeah, we went to Arizona in June and we're going to Florida in October. So, I get the money thing. But we hadn't taken a trip for like three years before June. And I didn't think it was that much money and it's our anniversary-which we haven't really celebrated in four plus years! It's been a crappy few years in our marriage to say the least, but I've stuck by him and things are kind of settled down this year. Isn't that worth splurging a little? And why didn't he say something way back in June when I booked the hotel room instead of waiting until 2 weeks ago. And I feel like if he's going to go and cancel my plans he should come up with something himself. Has he? No! We're going to go to dinner. Don't know where yet, no reservations or anything and that's it. So, maybe I am spoiled a little in that we go out a lot. At least once or twice a week, so that just doesn't seem very special to me. I never told him it has to be expensive, hell, he can plan something free if he wants but special = out of the ordinary to me. Different than every other weekend. And now he'll make me out to be the bad guy because I'm upset.

Last year I planned a trip to Arizona for our anniversary. We got in a fight the day before and he called the airline and cancelled the trip. Normal people would get over it and still go, but not him. So, we did nothing for our anniversary, he didn't even get me a card, but it was my fault because I got mad at him. My birthday was a month and a half before that. He said he was throwing me a birthday party. Three weeks before my birthday I got mad at him - told him that he needed to come up with some idea for what we were doing or let our friends know at least so they could save the date. He got mad that I was expecting this of him and so he didn't throw a party (nevermind that I've thrown him four birthday parties-big parties too, since we've been married...he's never thrown me one). We did nothing for my birthday, he didn't even get me a card, but it was my fault 'cause I got mad. This year we had last year's Arizona airline credit that was about to expire. So, that's why we went there. I planned the entire thing; hotel rooms, itinerary, everything. He got on the plane and went. That's all. He did get me a present this year at least.

Go by yourself. It may not be as much fun as it would be if your DH went (or maybe it would be), but it's got to be better than doing nothing.

Maybe he'll decide to tag along at the last minute. If not, plan something that you'll enjoy doing. hug

I don't think it's being spoiled to want to celebrate your marriage to him. shake head
I can't go. I'd spend almost as much money going alone and he'd be really, really mad at me.

It sounds like he's going to be mad anyway. Dontknow

It also sounds like he uses these fights as excuses to not have to do anything or buy you anything. Maybe he feels it's easier to deal with the fights than to have to go through the "hassle" of planning something and putting thought into a gift. Frown

Therein lies the problem. Annoyed

I plan to use this time to implement a new bedtime routine with them. Whip

Make it three of us. He sure can carry a grudge, huh? Can you get a transfer of the booking to another Red Lion closer to you?
