How to sell a piano? (Minimal OT)

Can anyone give me some HELPFUL advice on how to sell my Baldwin baby grand piano without going through a dealer who is going to take half of what it sells for?

The estimated worth of the used baby grand piano depends on the brand. I would say that you can probably sell a piano for one third to one half of the purchase price. A Yahama baby grand costs around $10k. You can probably get $5k for it on the open market. About 12 yrs ago, we bought a $8k baby grand that we've kept in good condition. I'm sure I would only get a few thousand for it now.

When I sold a cheap piano ($1,500), I paid a piano tuner to come and inspect it. Not tune it, just inspect it. Then the buyer can have some assurance the piano is in decent shape. The buyer did talk to the tuner. Piano sold in two days, moving was their responsibility.
