Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.
Can I cancel after the first year?
Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I asked a rep this, and according to her, the one year is effective til 7/31/18. So, it doesn't matter when you activate the sim, all free plans will end on 7/31/18.
Thanks for reporting your finding Smilie

Two lines

Just got off with Sprint CHAT.
Estimated $15 a month for Sprint Surcharges and fees
Estimated $16.50 taxes and additional fees. (they figure taxes on the undiscounted monthly amount...$60 + $40 for 2nd line and then tack on some other things that are not REALLY taxes)

So it goes from Free to $31.50 before any other bogus charges per month. Versus my current $20+$15 for two lines on FI +$10/GB. No additional charge international roaming, and free data-only sims. Currently FI still fits me better. but YMMV of course.
I spoke with an adviser yesterday and she mentioned that it will be around $6 in taxes and fees a month. This is for the bay area according to the zip code.

So I am on Verizon prepaid right now. My phone is an iPhone 6S that was on R+ before so it definitely will work. Somehow the system shows that my phone is ineligible. Chatted with a rep and explained all that to her. She said just give them a call at 866-782-8777 and she suggested to switch asap to lock in the deal.

Very tempting but the ambiguity with taxes and fees make me hesitant to sign up. If the taxes and fees are more than $15/month its not worth the pain to deal with this.

Can I go to Verizon Wireless now, activate a Moto G5 Plus phone I buy from Best Buy with a Verizon Wireless plan, then wait a day & do this Free Sprint plan?? That would mean I have to be activation fees for Verizon Wireless though and possible cancellation fees. Anyone have any ideas how to get in on this deal with buying a phone now from Best Buy?

You are right. very well said. i would only add...Don't listen to random sd'ers here in this thread either

Not true there are fees and taxes on the plan I think as I checked with an adviser yesterday and she mentioned that it will depend on the place that you are in.

I asked her to give me an estimate and it was $6. I am in the Bay area.

Had the same credit card problem when submitting my order. I called their customer care. I think the person who spoke to me was Chinese. He asked my Full name, SSN, credit card, current address etc. Was not comfortable sharing those details with a stranger halfway across the globe. Hope I don't get screwed.

Since there are several Project Fi members concerned that having active Fi service is causing their phone to be ineligible..

I bought my Nexus 6 unlocked on Amazon and was on Fi for a little over a year. Then I switched it to Verizon (postpaid) a couple months ago. But it still shows ineligible for this promotion. So it seems just having been on Fi in the past causes it to show ineligible. Temporarily porting elsewhere likely wouldn't help.

Quote from BLJJNW_2013 :
how is sprint service in Denver metro area?
From my experience with Sprint's network on Project Fi in Denver metro area, I'd like to get in on this deal (my Nexus 6 shows ineligible). I believe this area is one of the strongest for Sprint as they have been scoring very well here versus other networks.

Coverage definitely isn't as thorough as Verizon, but it seemed pretty decent and faster/more reliable in many places. How happy you will be with Sprint will depend if you happen to live/work/frequent somewhere where Sprint has a weak signal.

I second this statement. Way more often than not, SDers make statements that were told to them or what they "think" is a correct answer, and its just plain false. Many lazy call center employees do this exact same thing.

Find out on your own, read the fine print, Sprint will never honor the words of their employees. You sign an agreement and TOS before committing. Your answers will always be there.

This is also something I want to bring up. Right now it says "postpaid" customers. Just because the initial check works to sign up, doesn't mean you're going to get that deal. Sprint has every right NOT to honor it. If they don't have to give free service, you can bet they won't. I would bet money that they're hoping this will get people to overlook and settle after the pain of doing the whole process of switching over. I worked for Sprint for a couple years during college, they do these underhanded things all the time.

hmm, clicking "message us" takes me to a t-mobile signup page. Is that what you did? Its asking for my tmobile phone number which I dont have but I guess I could try a non tmobile number.
