Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.
Can I cancel after the first year?
Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Sprint's chat people keep telling me I have to order a new SIM even though I picked one up from the store.... do I just need to ignore that and call the phone number and use the SIM I already have? Also, a sprint phone that my sister used to use is showing up as eligible... and it already has a sprint sim in it...can I reuse the SIM?
Why are you chatting? Just call the special number with your phones imei and sim ready you can reuse it.

I'm going to head out in a few minutes to BB.
I just requested temporary unfreezes from all three credit reporting agencies.

OK, so the plan is to buy the Moto E (and try to get $99 price match) at BestBuy. Then I'll try to get a free SIM at a Sprint store, and if they seems like too much of a hassle I'll buy the Boost Mobile SIM kit at BB.

Then what do I do?
I'm porting a line from Cricket (where I use an old Moto G).
Do I need to insert the SIM into the Moto E? Do I need to bother with getting the Moto E activated on my Cricket account? Or do I just need my Cricket info (PIN#, account #, etc.) and Moto E phone identification number and speak to a Sprint CSR?
Just call and have moto e imei, SIM card and cricket info ready.

A few years ago with T-mobile, I had switched to a phone requiring a nano. I took the old and new phones to the downtown T-Mobile store expecting to be charged until the guy said, "It's on the house". Those are the kind of good faith, good karma gestures we need more of these days.
TMobile has changed, no more free SIMs.

Yeah. Their MVNO flag is set to "PLBL" right now, likely. Sprint will only activate them if they're set to "SPCS". We do it automatically when a device goes inactive, but devices fall through our robot's fingers all the time for all kinds of reasons. PM me on Reddit with the IMEI and I'll see if I can flip the flag over for you so you can try again. I'm /u/LiterallyUnlimited.
Thanks a lot for your assistance, you are a true benefit to the community!

This message helped me to get my s5 signed up. Took more than 1 try though and swapping my redpocket from cdmas to cdmav. Sprint chat is useless, go with calling in. Phone was listed as ineligible online throughout the entire process.

@zorbas1: I must thank you for this! I was wondering whether I had to purchase S7s for my kids but then I read about someone who swapped in S4s later without a hitch. Then I came across your post which gave me the confidence to just jump in with the S4s immediately. It went great! The rep did not even have to get permission from a superior but just did it! Now the kids are off Ting, where I had to police and limit their data use to 1gig, and still pay $35/mo for two lines, and onto Sprint unlimited!! Thanks again. Happy camper here.

I was able to get my Samsung Galaxy S4 (originally a Sprint phone) to work with this deal.
This is how I did it.
1. Called the Sprint phone number in the wiki. They originally told me my phone was ineligible.
2.Next they sent me to a tech I was told the phone was ineligible because the phone was PLBL (third part MVNO) Sprint said they had no way to change the phone to SPSC to work on the Sprint network. They said it would require flashing the phone.
3. I called Ting the last carrier the phone was registered to and asked them to switch the designation from PLBL to SPSC. This was completed in 30 seconds. No flashing required.
4. I called back Sprint and again asked them to activate the phone. Again they first told me the phone was ineligible. I told the rep to ask a supervisor too override it. This time when they checked they said my phone was eligible.
5. They asked if I had a SIM Card. I gave them the ICCID number of the orignal ( 4 year old ) Sprint Sim the phone came with. This Worked! I did not have to buy a new sim.
6. Next i was registering my phone for the BYOD free 1 year account. I ported out my google voice number. Be certain to unlock it first. The account number is your phone number.
7. After getting off the phone I called the porting phone number in the wiki to complete the port. Bingo it was working, free service for 1 year.
8. This entire process was complete in about 2 hours and 30 minutes from initial call to having free service. Good Luck!

Just go to empty your urinal bladder & get a good cup of coffee (or your favorite drink), since you will be hooked on the phone w/ Sprint BYOD promotion team for, at least, 60+ mins. Then call: 866-782-8777. And, ask for the device (your new Moto-E4) & SIM activation. Prepare to get all your personal info, for the credit check & ID verification.

Yeah, for me, Sprint activation process is much more pain than a root-canal procedure.

not sure of the validity of this but when I called and talked to a rep to add a line for this promo, he told the deal has been extended through end of Aug.

He also told me the taxes and fees that we pay are per account (and not per line), so even with 5 lines the taxes and fees would be the same as 1 line. Can anyone confirm this?

So over the phone, did the rep put you on a temp $45 plan or straight to free BYOD plan?
Straight to free. I made it abundantly clear from the onset of the call that I wanted the free for one year plan. They verify it later and ask for your verbal agreement. "Do you agree or consent" is what they ask or something that sounds like that

Will have to look into Freedom pop after the year of Sprint. $35 for 4gb, unlimited talk and text is pretty good. Otherwise $40 for 6gb from AT&T is the next best. Luckily this Nexus 6 has CDMA and GSM bands.
Freedom Pop and Cricket both use Att's network. Att owns Cricket. They have more voice coverage than all of the other major networks. Not only that, but they claim to have more 4glte coverage area than Sprint or TMobile. Cricket's prices are as advertised. All taxes and fees are included Hodaddy. When you get the app, you can switch plans at anytime of the month and they prorate it for the duration of the month. I wouldn't get one of their crappy free or cheap $50 phones. Half the time I'd make a call and the other party couldn't hear me. I put the sim in my IPhone 4 and had no isssues.

Maybe for new customers like your or from next billing or something? But I was charged 3.92$/line. (I am in New Orleans, they have slightly higher 911 fees and some extra charges which goes to help community or something) so my bill was 3.92$ X 2 last month

You can see it further at sprint.com at

https://www.sprint.com/en/support/solutions/account-and-billing/understanding-the-surcharges--taxes--fees-and-other-charges-on-y.html

The Administrative Charge is applied per line, per month by Sprint .. (1.99$ charge)

The Regulatory Charge is assessed per line, per month by Sprint

I had a similar experience. My phone was listed on their site as ineligible, but it was bought and unlocked with a Verizon post paid. I then called Sprint and the guy said that it is eligible and we got the ball rollin'.

I haven't seen an extension on this, and Monday is the last day. FYI, I won't be around tomorrow (day off), but I'll be back first thing Monday morning to get to all your SPCS/PLBL requests sent to my reddit inbox at /u/LiterallyUnlimited. Cheers!

I wouldn't be surprised if Sprint big wigs extended the deal yet again. Either they haven't signed up as many as they hoped, or they're trying to make their number of subs look even more attractive to a buyer. It's kind of telling that they still can't ink a buyer.
