Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I see the comment in the wiki that you cannot call and use data at the same time on Sprint. Is that true?? Isn't that a showstopper then?
Not when it is free !
Work around ....I only use Google Voice.

I see, but you also know that porting out to tmo will close that account as well.

So as i understand, then your current numbers will become your main GV numbers and any new numbers assigned from any carrier can be forwarded to your GV number.
Right. So I'm going to activate new lines on t-mobile, and port to Sprint as BYOD free year account. Then port current numbers to GV, which closes old postpaid account. Hopefully.

Sounds like a plan. But call ahead to the promo number and have them check the IMEI, as it has been reported that they will accept some phones that are not on the list.

Always smart to move your number to GV, then you can switch to any low cost carrier of choiceWink

Ok, I've read a bunch, and I think this all makes sense, can someone please just check my math and make sure I'm not about to do something stupid?....
im not sure why you are doing all this either..but...

a few comments:

to port from S to GV will be $20 each line

if u want 2 new # to port into new S account, best is to get from GV. for $3

the newer phones are on eligible list. but since they are S phones, no real way to confirm that unless u have them un associated with a S account. what will happen when u do that is not 100% certain (this is my understanding and i could be wrong)

as another assurance..u can now swap the old devices to new devices.
then see if the new devices ime is eligible (use a friend cell number that u know is NOt on sprint)..also good to do this before u swap anyways...(may not entirely be necessary but good practice non the less)

u have considered the minor lag when using GV as your main # and forwarding calls to whatever # S or future carriers will assign u

in your situation, would simply port out to TM e sim..wait 30 min (down time) and port back into newly created S account

wait 13 months to re evaluate options then

just my 2c

edit; if u insist on doing what u have outlined above;

i would:

1. create new GV numbers now. pay $3 for each. port them into newly created S account

2. then port the current numbers to GV. pay $20 each line

this way no need to involve TM at all

You don't need to log into your TMo account. All you care about is Sprint not seeing your IMEI tied to a Sprint account. Just check your IMEI on the Sprint site and if it says "Eligible" you can call Sprint to set up new service.

I'll try to explain the process again:
1. Call Tmo, tell them you have a sim card, a device, and that you want to set up new service as a prepaid line. Tell them you have/will get a prepaid card once the line is activated.
2. Give them all the info they ask for. Remember the pin you give them. They'll say something along the lines of: "You will receive a text message when you line is activated." We don't care about this. Just say thanks and end the call.
3. Go to the Sprint site and check your IMEI number HERE [sprint.com].
4. When it says eligible, call Sprint using the number in the Wiki.

Info you should keep track of:
1. Old account number and account pin. You need that to port the line into TMo.
2. The TMo pin number and "account" number. The TMo account number is the phone number you ported into TMo with a 1 before the area code. 1(###)###-####.

As I said, the activation text of the TMo line is irrelevant. All you need to do is keep checking the Sprint IMEI checker. I never removed the Sprint sims from the phones as they can be reused. Two of the lines I have are 40 miles away - I never touched those devices. I bought 5 TMo sim numbers but some people have said that some TMo sim numbers can be reused.
Quote from hodaddy :
Just finished porting in a 3rd line (from tmo) on to my wifes SSN. I just want confirm that the account number for ported in lines from Tmobile will have a 1 in front of the phone number. As you stated, new lines will not have the 1 prefix.
Hopefully this clarifies the confusion regarding account numbers.

BTW, I used the same tmo virtual sim that i used on a previous port.
So, having some issues here with the eligibility checker on Sprint. I've ported over all lines to Tmo using digital SIM. Went smoothly with no issues exactly as others have described. Been about an hour now and checked SIM and phone number on Sprint eligibility site and none of the phones are coming back as eligible. I see on my S8+ that it no longer has signal on Sprint.

Any thoughts here? Do I just need to call Sprint telesales and start the re-porting in process with them? I think if the eligibility checker is pretty spot on, correct? HELP!

if the ime from a S device is not coming up as eligible, not sure the special tele # will be able to help.

see my post above..as it may apply to u

I think you are saying that because eligibility checker is showing not eligible that is the indicator that they phones are still associated to my old acct. I saw from another post in the wiki that it says to check that your old acct with Sprint is cancelled. I will try that and then check again.

i guess what i am saying is..that the original intent of these eligible phones were to be NOT FROM SPRINT..

so now u have a S phone that works on S, but may not be eligible to be used as a port in vehicle

i think that is what i am saying (not really sure )

GL anyways

edit: no i dont think it ineligible because it is still associated wih ur old account..but as others have said..if u eventually want to port out..best practice is to first swap a old S device and then swap..(i do undertsand not everyone has acess to old unused S devices)

What phones get used on the newly-created free year S account? All my phones were previously linked to Sprint, and the inactive ones show up as ineligible when I test them with a GV-provided number on Sprint's site.

new phones = a/b (what are they model?)
old phones=x/y (what are they model?)

swap ab with xy ..right now..
once xy are on the current account..see if ab are eligible using a friends cell phone number that is not on sprint

if that works great..if not then it looks like u do not have port in eligible phones at all

since u have already verified xy are not eligible..

edit:
i have S lg g6 on active account.
i swapped with old kyoceria rise.
then i ported out
the S lg g6 was eligible as soon as i swapped with rise.
but it is not neceassrily that all will be like that
side note: the g6 was unlcoked by sprint so i think that may be one reason why

Yes you can also call the credit dept directly at 800-639-6116 and ask for a supervisor to approve a re-test. Usually they will do this without waiting 60 days.

This is along the same lines as what pbot suggests but I am just adding the note that you also can call directly to the credit dept. Many people have done this successfully.
Omg, it worked! Thank you so much for your help! Successfully ported 2 lines from T-Mobile to Sprint. Took me 40 minutes over the phone after I went in-store to run the credit check and get an account setup.

You said your current phones are on the eligible list, so why don't you swap in those older sprint phones as this will free the imei's of the current phones so they can be used to create a new account (with a different SSN of course) You can find tmo numbers with account and pin numbers for porting on ebay for 5 or 6 bucks.

There's a good chance they will accept the older Sprint phones if you call in, even though they show up as ineligible on the web site test you mention.

Or swap them as mentioned by hodaddy.

Not sure if this applies to you but I think i figured something out. So just on a whim I did incognito mode in Chrome and tried the eligibility checker on Sprint (which was telling me all phones were ineligible that were previously on Sprint) and presto they are coming back as eligible! WHEW - my cache tricked me!

So things would have been fine just by calling in to telesales and creating the new acct. I'll do this in the morning and report back...

Also you might be logged in to a Sprint account on your regular version of Chrome or there may be a cookie indicating your account. As I recall it will reject everything in certain cases where the account you are logged into is closed and similar cases.
