Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I hate to say it but this really sounds like user error. If you follow the instructions from the wiki things should be fine. The first step is calling the correct number to start and making sure they are putting you on the right plan. As it says in the wiki, if the rep doesn't sound sure about the free plan hang up and try again until you get someone who does.
Agreed . u can't go wrong if properly followed WIKI.

I have to add a line to this plan for my son, but do not have a device. If I call the number listed on the wiki, will they be able to provide phones for purchase as well ? Or should I purchase my own unlocked device first and then transfer to this plan ?
Best to purchase a device on your own. Savings through the BYOD plan would be negated if you buy a full-price phone through Sprint.
Virtually all of the Moto unlocked phones will work.
Pixel 2, pixel 3.
Almost any Sprint Android phone or unlocked iPhone on eBay.
If you're going to use an iPhone, do get one that is CDMA/GSM

I have sent them back twice at the end.
What kind of kit does Sprint send for returning the Magic Box? Can I just return the Magic Box in the package that it was originally sent in?

Does the associated line automatically cancel when they receive the Magic Box or must I take additional step of porting out or calling them to close the line?

I just want to terminate Magic Box, not close my Sprint account.

Don't do it! This was the worst customer service experience of my life. They put me on the wrong plan, they locked my new phone down because it was bought from a third party seller, and they disconnected my old phone. So was without a phone for two days. In those two days I probably talked to 20 customer service representatives who had no clue about anything. I finally told them to f** off and I wanted to port my number back to verizon so I could actually have service. They kept asking me for a pin code that had never been set up and they wouldn't give me my account number so I couldn't access anything and I couldn't port my number back. Thank God for Verizon customer service. I don't care if sprint gives me free phone plan for life, I wouldn't take it after that cluster.
that sucks.

but countless of people had success with this plan.

even if u had trouble , there were probably easy fixes.
if u had asked for help here

rather than what u actually posted above

(as ur first post ...EVER)

i am sure things would have ended differently

enjoy verizon service and the ~$60 (?) bill that comes with it

What number did you call to start service? What phone where you using to port in with?

People are calling the wrong number, going into stores, etc and having the wrong results even though everything about this is explicitly mentioned in the wiki.
dont be afraid to say this.

this is exactly what happened

all too often people jump in w/o being prepared
something goes wrong.
then blame some one else for THEIR OWN STUPIDITY.

They send a new box these days in case you did not keep the original one. But you can use the original one if you kept it. The instructions say that.

The original line will automatically cancel after they receive the package but I have both times been in a rush to kill the account immediately so I ported out its "number" to H2O oblivion both times I returned one.

Ported two lines to at&t pay as you go yesterday. For whatever reason you can no longer do this online so I had to go into a store to do it. The agent in store said I had to put a minimum of $10 on each line to activate. Anyone else have to put that much on?

Anyways did the ports and after getting my account numbers from at&t I called Sprint to port those numbers into my wife's recently created account. Fortunately thanks to following all the helpful assistance from the great contributors in this thread everything went as hoped and both lines where ready on the new account in a short time. Now I just have to kill off (no need to keep the number) the last line left in my name. Will likely pic up an h2o sim today to take care of that.

Thanks again all.

My Moto G4 was locked to Ringplus 2 years ago and I asked Sprint tech support. They said that I have to go to a store to put their phone in the database? I went to a store and the store person won't even let me do it. It says that the device cannot be added at this time and "may need to ReSKU between phone brands."

I just gave up, I decided to get the cheesy Orbic Wonder from Bestbuy and use this instead.
I had the exact same situation with my G4 locked to Ringplus. You have to find that guy on Reddit with username I think was LiterallyUnlimited (do a search to double check) and he will flip the flag for you on the phone and then it's good to go on Sprint.

Was able to sign up second time for Free unlimited. Waited about 20 days after i ported out to Metro. I did not want to pay Metro a second month since their service has been so bad. Luckily I did not have to wait 45 days to re-sign up with same SS#.
Anyways, all works however disturbed Sprint forces you on the 'Sprint Complete' insurance plan. Even after I told agent no I don't want it, he said I have no choice and then to goto dashboard to remove it. Well, when I go to dashboard>My Sprint>More>Change services...I get an error. Then I chatted with 'international' chat because all the other chats redirected to nonsense. That chat agent said he removed it..But now when I check my services online it shows its 'checked'.. When I go to uncheck it>confirm>it says 'internal error'.. what a shocker?!?!? Anyways...not cool Sprint..glad I am getting for free.second time..
Did you just get lucky only waiting 20 days re-signing up with the same ss#? Did the agent say anything about being a previous Sprint customer?

It was very nice of him to have done it for so many and for so long and without asking for anything in return (except for some kind words for Ting if I knew anyone looking for cell service). He was very helpful. I'm surprised he did it for as long as he did.

I just returned one a couple weeks ago. Called support and they sent a ups label. Returned it in the box it was shipped to me in. A few days after they received it the line disappeared from my account.
