Not sure Sprint store will help me to add new line under free plan. Any experience?.
You need to call 866-782-8777 and tell them you are pre-approved to add more free plan lines right up to your free plan end date and it is noted in the terms of your account and plan. Argue if they refuse!
It is not clear if they are saying both requirements need to be met or either one. Also Sprint itself does not even have two-year contracts any more. Sprint has never published its FED policies and nobody knows what they are but I think it often takes more than one or two years if ever in many cases. Many people still cannot unlock FED-locked phones many years later.
I suspects those are guesses / rumors / partial truths that are incomplete.
The one year rule is for prepaid phones on Boost, Virgin, or Sprint Prepaid which is a different thing.
they gave several answers.
first phone was active.
then phone is not active on account.
phone is paid off.
phone is locked.
only previous owner can request unlock.
but if /once i put ot on my account i an request an unlock ..only after 50 days.
but i have no faith in what Sprint says...
ultimatley, it looks like seller story is correct..and only time will tell ifi can eventially get the phone unlocked..
but who knows what sprint will say once the 50 days are up.
but forst step firts...have to get phone on my account..tehn cross fingers i guess...
thanks 4 all ur help

Also if was active , the sprint checker would say so.

i believe the ebay seller more than the sprint
first they say active (which surprise me since i have the phone in my hand and says service disabled)a
,,,,moments later they say no, not active and paid off, but locked.
maybe the rep i gt was just incompetent....
ting tello both say cannot activate , but maybe is because the phone was purchased in 11/2018...so may need to wait 15 months..(but who knows if that is even a real requirement as comitel points out)

I can't remember exact details except that I was skeptical it would work but did.
Nice to see all my favorite BYODers still here offering great information.
Merry Christmas to one and all

nice to see ur post ...
MC to u as well..and a HNY !!
btw...seller said S hadnt charged them enough to pay off the phone.
(hard to believe Sprint can be so incompetent, )
but the seller did pay off today.
hopefully in 24 -48 hrs will be fixed
lets see...will update as necessary
Also, I have bought a new phone fully paid and unlocked version. If I change my sim card to the new phone its not working. Do we need to call sprint and update the IMEI of new the phone to make it work?
Have any one come across this situation?
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

On Sprint, you activate phones, not sims, and do not move sims around between phones except in very limited cases. So you need to first get the correct sim for the new phone (order the universal kit for $2.99 on Amazon or from Sprint) and then swap online or via chat (or call).
First step is check the IMEI at sprint.com/bringit to be sure there are no issues there (but do NOT go through the steps to activate the phone there - just check the IMEI).

Apple might give you a sim if you ask at a store.
