FYI for anyone in NYC area, the only store with this instock is Walmart Supercenter #5447
150 Harrison Ave Kearny NJ 07032. Brickseek reports 3 in stock. DO NOT GO, do not attempt this as I personally tried and even had a manager check the back storage areas. Eventually the guy who "normally" staffs the electronics desk preemptively and specifically asked if I was looking for the "$25 or something chromebook" and if I was using the brickseek website, and then proceeded to mockingly report/claim that the store has not had these in stock for over a year now. Just thought I'd save some people the trouble.
Around here Walmart employees will blatantly lie about these. They claim they have in the back then go scan them back there and come back out saying they either don't have them anymore or they show up at a much higher price.
Screw it I'm going to go and see if the near by walmart has the 2 they say they have. Didn't do lunch so why not
Edit: Lady got there a couple of days ago to grab the remaining one the 2nd was was a display and they don't sell demo's. The tech guy didn't know or know where to look. I had to point him to the aisle >.> and even then he didn't know what to use to find the PC so I show him the sku and where it should be, replaced by the new model but same name (4gig instead). Eventually he went and spoke to the manager and confirmed the last one was just bought by the a lady.
Showed 2 in my local Walmart, went there they just told me that they have none. Had no luck lately with Walmart. Anyone know if it is true or they just kept them?
But last time I went there for blickseek deal, they kept saying they don't have it even the manager checked their computers and it showed in stock...
I hate dealing with those BS again...

If it shows in stock chances are they are there, they just don't know where to find them. Now if it's something small like a flash drive then most likely they were stolen. Most likely they want them for themselves.
This has nothing to do with where you live or whether they exist or not.
I've been successful at finding some of these in big cities - and some in very rural areas.
More often than not, everywhere is out of them. I often have to drive quite far (over 60 miles) to get one.
Brick seek has made it quite better than just driving around and hoping a store has them. If they show up on Brick seek - it means it MIGHT be in the store.
YMMV - means you might have to drive quite a distance to find one - if you can find one at all.
downvoting this because of that means you are down voting the deal for being exactly what it is. You might as well downvote a kitty cat for meowing or down vote water for being wet.
Most of the time these deals are totally dependent on the employee you get. Are they willing to even look? Is the stock wrong due to loss/theft/overage/shortage? Has another employee hidden them? Did the employee who agreed to look see the sale price and decide to lie to you? Is the manager sick of people trying to cash in on what they feel are pricing errors or something?
I've probably encountered most of the scenarios. I've been able to snag about 3 out of 12 of these YMMV deals. This area of WA is largely cleaned out and the places with stock do not discount and won't price match.
Tempted but Chromebooks seem so old. A tablet can do almost the same thing and have a ton more games and software. A cheap laptop can do a ton more than a chrome book. So then what is a Chromebook good for? Can't do games, you can do mail and movies but so can a tablet with more games.
Can report that the east Main Street store in Columbus has 2 but they are ringing up $189
I think we have a Samsung Soundbar situation on our hands and the UPC's are confused in the system.
Bring up the app on your phone while in store and have them price match...you may have to get a manager involved but I had to do that on the r7000 router a few weeks back and they didnt have an issue...You are talking about the Whitehall, OH store right? In the app when you are in store it will show the $45 price

The thing is that it is $45...You cant even get a hard drive for that price...That is also way cheaper than any cheaptop and for basic use this will work fine.
Yes they can sell discontinued display units and will eventually take it off and sell it on clearance since the vendor/company never asks for it back.
Yes you are right but to add one thing...All retail stores TVs, computers, tablets (other than Apple) are store stock so they will/have to sell if it is the last one. The only things that are vendor supplied are cell phones and game consoles. If they ever have an issue selling display, ask to talk to a CSM/Manager, not the department lead/supervisor.
I agree with some people posting in here. I live in Austin. I can't find anything good because I am too slow to see the deal on here and the stores are sold out. Brickseek showed 9 of the 7 piece patio sets at a local Target yesterday for $36 and when we got to the store the guy looked on the scanner and they were all gone, so BS is behind on stock status.
However, at one point a few years ago there was a clearance deal for a Samsung 55" Smart LCD TV and I looked all around central Texas and found the Walmart in Corsicana, TX had two in stock. Now Corsicana is 160 miles away so I took a chance and called them and sure enough the lady had two in stock and she put my name on them and held them for me. The GF and I drove up there after work and got them for $349. That was well worth the 5+ hours there and back to get them.
