HP EliteBook 840 14" Laptop Computer Refurbished - Black; Intel Core i5 Processor; Microsoft Windows 10 Pro; 8GB RAM; 128GB Solid State Drive

Impressive laptop with 128 GB SSD for under $300. First time I have seen an SSD laptop this inexpensive.

Already sold out in Dallas. And if this is the G1 then with a 4th gen i5 its not much of a deal. I would ratner buy a dell latitude e5440 for about $250 and that would a sweet machine which will last a few years.

Yep from the pic looks like the G1 not G3. If its G1 you can pick up one refurbished by arrow direct on ebay for far less. As far as i know arrow direct is authorized microsoft refurbisher.

If so, then no thanks.

I have bought and use HP Elitebook 840 G1 since it came out. I upgraded to a 1TB drive and have been using it flawlessly. It will run about as fast as the latest one since they are just dual-core and 4-thread with i5 models. i7 models aren't much faster. These are great machines.

the new ones are still dual core but are now 4 generations ahead. Higher clock speeds (+IPC differences) with much better efficiency and much much better integrated graphics. For just browsing or word processing sure they still run the same, but for everything else the difference is huge. And even if you don't care about performance that much, the battery life differences are not subtle.

Gen here refers to gen of this machine. Do you know of one equipped with 8th gen processor?
