I saw a guy selling a double kegorator conversion with two tanks, regulators etc (no hoses) for $100. Probably better to go with that. Or maybe I need to just focus on all grain and worry about kegging later Smilie

I did my first partial mash yesterday. Really not that much different then an extract with specialty grains. Targe OG was 1.017 and hti 1.016 so I was pretty happy with that. Bad part was when I was inserting my blow off tube and the rubber gromet on the bottom popped off and into my wort so now the tube does sit in there snug, there's a little bit of gap around it. Big deal? Should I try and fix it right now or just wait till it's done fermenting?

King of Spain, my first batch had all kinds of issue but still turned out pretty good. You just need to RDWHAHB.

I would seal that. If possible, fish out that grommet. That probably wasn't sterilized and can only hurt your brew, plus any gap will allow the possibility of contamination from the air. At a minimum I would seal the area (duct tape should be good enough), but try and get that grommet out (using sterilized equipment like tongs).

if its in the beer...i wouldn't touch it....fishing it out could possibly add more bacteria...thats why i sanitize everything... i wouldn't worry too much if its not sealed super tight... bacteria shouldn't enter as the beer is fermenting and blowing off air, and O2 won't touch it because the co2 will create a safetly blanket over the beer..

The grommet should be steriliazed because I washed/sterlized the lid when I washing the bucket. I'll rig up some kind of a sealwhen I get home tonight.

Maybe it was 1.17 and 1.16 , would that make more sense? I'm pretty sure that there was a 17 in there some where. The hydrometer still gives me fits figuring it out.

it's possible that you looked at the brix/balling scale. 16 brix would be ~1.063

Right about now I have no idea. I thought I had done everything right up until about 5 minutes ago. (well except for the whole grommet thing. Now, who knows

Would that be something that an instruction sheet would normal ask you check. I do remember something about taking your OG and your FG and multipling it by 131 to get your ABV.
