Oh gosh why do you continue writing your username after your post 😱
Plus taxes and fees. If you live in IL like I do, taxes will be like $8 extra per month. There is always a $5 e911 fee plus other bogus fees.

Did you buy sim card with a credit card from ATT website? Was there any declined transactions on your CC?
Yes, I bought sim with a credit card. I logged into my cc account to check and there are no pending or declined charges for this.

Couple of quick Q's if anyone have time.

1. What's considered as 'new customer'? I've had prepaid service for a month last year.
2. Anyway to avoid 'tax and fees'?
3. Anyway to avoid buying $5 SIM card? Already have one from last year.

Appreciate your time.

Appreciate this clarification. Some commentators have been spreading false narratives which helps no one. I wish they would stop.

1. I left cricKet for 1 month in June to try Metro and came back the next month as a "new customer" who received a free phone. So, to me that means someone who isn't on the service currently.
2. Prepaid cards.
3. Not sure on this, but just read on this thread not too far back someone went to buy a SIM card at Walmart and called csr to get the promo. It took them a few calls but they were able to succeed.

For those who ordered a sim from AT&T online as part of the $300 deal - how long did it take for you to receive the sim after placing the order? Planning on porting in from Republic Wireless and need to allow enough time to allow the transfer to happen before my next month payment is due.

I don't have an ATT prepaid account yet. How do I use the Prepaid cards on the sign up page? I only see Card information entry. The total will be $335.82 with tax

Mine took 3 business days. I did have trouble activating it. Called ATT and was told all was good but kept getting no service. After a lot of frustration I finally went into a ATT store only to find SIM arrived DOA. A quick swap and new card was activated. Been trouble-free since.

Btw, paid $5.38 for SIM and when I called ATT to activate it was told I still needed to pay the $300 + tax to activate the service. A bit annoying since I thought I had already paid for both SIM/service when I signed up.

You can't. If you read through this forum, you'll see it's a bit of a complicated process. It'd be nice if it were that easy though.

Has anyone done this recently and it went nice and smooth? What about the porting process and how long did it take? I can't have a non useable phone for hours or a day and it seems to be a mess for many.

I called AT&T sales this morning. After putting me on hold for about 30 minutes, the representative told me that he confirmed it with Prepaid department that this rate is only good for ONE year. After that, this 8GB plan will be 50 dollars without autopay and $40 with autopay.
I'm currently paying $30, on autopay for talk, text & 1gb of data per month.
I just signed up for this deal and waiting for SIM card.
If they don't have another promo offer next year maybe I'll go back to the $30 plan or maybe do $40 for 8gb per month?

Note that it's not that hard to find ATT top up cards on sale at retailers or on eBay etc for at least 10% off. If you pay with top up cards ATT does not tax you on top of that because technically the top up cards themselves are supposed to be taxed. But it depends where / how you buy them. For example, I was paying roughly $26 month, all-in for my $30 (autopay) plan. I imagine $40 a month would really cost me about $35 if I again search for cheap top up cards.

So I'm not worried about next year I'll figure it out then and enjoy the 8 gbs of data for the next 12 months.

Yes I ported a number from t-mobile. I had put all the porting info when signing up, but just like the $300 payment, I had to give the rep all the info again when activating the SIM. Process doesn't seem very smooth. Again, I had a DOA SIM card so maybe that complicated things.

Just wrapped up my 1st month, used prepaid cards, no additional taxes or fees were charged.
I finished my first month a few days ago and I too can confirm no fees and no taxes. There has been a plethora of misinformation posted in this thread; however if one is willing to take a few extra steps they can get this deal for ~$270. That's what I paid using discounted AT&T refill cards. This is by far the best carrier direct deal I've seen with such a generous non-throttled data allowance. Smilie

Thank you for posting this. I was about to do the same but I got something come up in the last minute so I decided to stay with H2O for another month.
My question for you is, do you think if I can go ahead sign up the prepaid account with ATT and buy the prepaid card (from Sam's) and load them to the account now and wait until next week and I call them to start the porting number over
Thank you
I'd suggest to wait until you are ready to port and then start the process. This promo runs through 10/21.

Where did you find the cards for $270?
I am waiting to activate, is there a place on the online form to put in the prepaid card codes?
