I have been waiting on a deal on this for awhile now! I've seen this price in the past back in January. Almost jumped on the 40v with the battery for $129.99 sale which ended yesterday over paying $149.99 for the 80v.
as user vincentandrew pointed out in this thread alternatively,
Checked this morning and found Item # 828976 Model # KHT 2680-08 for $101.08 with free shipping, doesn't seem to have an in store pickup option near me for tool only. I have lots of batteries for the 80v, otherwise the tool with a battery is $199.99

Thank you! Just purchased, had a 20 off 100 coupon, samsung pay had a 5% bonus on lowes gift card and used my boa cash back card for 2.62%.
Man, am I crazy or is $85 for just the tool kind of a lot? I get the whole msrp thing but there's nothing to these things. Show me a $140 tool with battery deal and then we're talking but this doesn't feel super slick to me.

I'm debating weather to get this trimmer or the Greenworks one. I have a ton of Greenworks 80v tools and batteries already.
Any cons in modifying this tool to work with Greenworks batteries?
Shouldn't be, they are more or less the same tool. It looks like you can either modify the battery and add a slot for the slide. Or remove the slide on the tool. I'd probably modify the tool since it is my only Kobalt tool and I'd otherwise need to modify all of my batteries.

edit: Now debating on returning it but I got the kit with the battery. The battery alone costs a lot.
Great call out on the $20 off $100! Just cancelled my order and re did it with an ebay purchase for a $1.50 instant delivery too,

On mobile now so hope that link works okay, I paid $85.94 with the coupon!
This almost completes what I need/want from the 80v line. Just need the chainsaw and I **THINK** I am done.
Thanks again!
P.S. Thanks for the 20 off 100 coupon link too!!!! Rep'ing you as well.
I know 'how' to do it, but has anyone actually done the modification. Any issues?
