Isn't 450-499 'deal' territory on these? What am I missing here?
This is the current series "Player", not the previous version "Standard" which had ceramic pickups and 21 frets. The "MAP" price on the Player series is $674 for the maple neck. It's an 18.5% discount which isn't bad at all. The downside is that it only comes in the Adorama-specific color. The plus side is that you can print it out and take it to Guitar Center and ask for a price match and pick whatever color you want.

Player series Telecasters street price of $674. This is $125 off.
I have not researched it yet, but likely the same goes for the Strat.
A Standard is around $500 usually, I believe - not the Player series.
Finally, don't confuse the MIC Modern Player Teles with the more expensive MIM Player Telecaster.
I only know all this crap because I was in the market for a MIM Tele recently. I just bought a MIM Player series Tele off ebay ($400). It was a great deal for an 'open box".

MIM HSS strats are regularly around $400 on here. I'm thinking maybe that they're SSS and the limited edition Lake Placid Blue?
MIM Teles are more rare.
"Limited Edition Lake Placid Blue" is an Adorama-specific color which usually lowers the price rather than raising it -- because adorama offers decent sales.
The MIM HSS player series strats are not "regularly around $400 on here". I can't find the PLAYER series on here for less than the current price. The "Standard" is the 21-fret, ceramic pickup previous version. This is the Player, not the Standard.
When the player series came out (to replace the standard series) they were $624 and a year later raised to $674. So while this is a decent deal, it's by no means a great deal for a MIM strat. Player series do have 22 frets vs 21 and a 9.5° fingerboard radius as well as better frets and neck shape. Essentially they upgraded the neck from the standard to player series (and subjectively the pups). All that said, lake placid blue and an LE sticker isn't worth an extra $100 in my opinion. Never like LPB in the tele anyway. I'd upsell for daphne blue, however. I digress. I have contributed nothing to this conversation ha. Waiting for the American Pro sale again, or the American performer series or even the old American Special tele's to go on sale at this price. Preferably with a decent color.

It might be worth it, though. Nice deal.
