So these (LVS-DHPTK3682W-28) actually seem to be Dahua IPC-HDW4831EM-ASE. Mine came with 2.622.10SU005.0.R, Build Date: 2018-04-18 firmware. I contacted LaView support to see if they can provide a copy of the firmware just so I can have it in case issues would arise in the future but the Indian lady on the other end said they don't have any firmware to provide and that the cameras have the latest firmware, which how did she know what firmware was on the actual camera since I never told her.
I went looking for Dahua OEM firmware and this seems to be the latest at the moment (2018-12-28): https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/lat...hea.36727/ Here is a revision from (2018-05-23): https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/201...hea.30305/ I have been running this firmware for 24h and no problems so far, just an FYI. Here is a comparison: https://www.laviewsecur http://pl.dahuasecurit I will be keeping Dahua OEM firmware as I bet LaView will never provide any updates or fixes. |
I just "updated" this Saturn to the Dahua firmware using this link on Ipcamtalk https://ipcamtalk.com/downloads/i...xx-ntsc.7/
Original Laview Saturn software was dated 4/xx/18. New dahua software is dated 2018-08-13. Only thing I noticed so far was that FPS at 4k went down to 14fps. To update the firmware, log onto the ip address of the camera...once in, click on 'setting', and on the left side of the screen, click on 'system', chose upgrade, click on 'browse firmware' and find the file that you downloaded from the ipcamtalk link..... it should take about a min or 2 to upgrade. Once it's done you'll get logged off and you'll have to log back into it again. Once you sign in again, you'll see the Dahua Tecnnology symbol on the left corner. |

IVS features on this one, and a bit of a different FOV / f# between the 2 from a past review shared here on SDs.
Highly suggest paying with PayPal as their website has had issues in the past as reported by other Slickdeals members.
The equivalent Dahua camera is the IPC-HDW4831EM-ASE. Here is the spec sheet: https://www.dahuasecuri

Thanks and repped eliezerlp
Sounds like this one is slightly better than yesterday if IVS has value. Same sensor though. Still holdout for a 1/1.8"?
Depends on what your needs are...
IF you are only getting one 8MP camera for both daylight and low light performance - then look for a 1/1.8" sensor.
This one does good for daylight conditions - great for catching those porch pirates, not as good in low light conditions.

I never know what to choose. Luckily I'm in a low crime area, so this is all mostly just for fun. Currently using all 2mp Starlights, but it's definitely not pitch black around my house due to street lights, my outside lights, and neighbors lights. So maybe I wouldn't do much worse at night with an 8mp, but would get a huge improvement during the day.

Well at this price point it is a good deal and I do like mixing quality low light cameras with a few that are getting more details in the day. Add this one or a 8MP 1/1.8" to your mix.

Looking at yesterday's Amcrest deal, I remembered I got the lightning deal for their 8mp and never tried it. It's black and a bullet, when I prefer white and a turret. So might get this and sell that one.

Yes, this is fairly typical of LaView.. no alerts or updates, until the product shows up.
