So these (LVS-DHPTK3682W-28) actually seem to be Dahua IPC-HDW4831EM-ASE. Mine came with 2.622.10SU005.0.R, Build Date: 2018-04-18 firmware. I contacted LaView support to see if they can provide a copy of the firmware just so I can have it in case issues would arise in the future but the Indian lady on the other end said they don't have any firmware to provide and that the cameras have the latest firmware, which how did she know what firmware was on the actual camera since I never told her.
I went looking for Dahua OEM firmware and this seems to be the latest at the moment (2018-12-28): https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/lat...hea.36727/ Here is a revision from (2018-05-23): https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/201...hea.30305/ I have been running this firmware for 24h and no problems so far, just an FYI. Here is a comparison: https://www.laviewsecur http://pl.dahuasecurit I will be keeping Dahua OEM firmware as I bet LaView will never provide any updates or fixes. |
I just "updated" this Saturn to the Dahua firmware using this link on Ipcamtalk https://ipcamtalk.com/downloads/i...xx-ntsc.7/
Original Laview Saturn software was dated 4/xx/18. New dahua software is dated 2018-08-13. Only thing I noticed so far was that FPS at 4k went down to 14fps. To update the firmware, log onto the ip address of the camera...once in, click on 'setting', and on the left side of the screen, click on 'system', chose upgrade, click on 'browse firmware' and find the file that you downloaded from the ipcamtalk link..... it should take about a min or 2 to upgrade. Once it's done you'll get logged off and you'll have to log back into it again. Once you sign in again, you'll see the Dahua Tecnnology symbol on the left corner. |

Typically IP PoE cameras sold separately do not include PoE injectors.
Typically WiFi IP cameras do include ac/dc power adapters.
When you do see % off sales from vendors, do check out the accessories as often you can find deals on PoE switches, ac/ dc adapters, etc..
Today I was hit with over $1,100 in charges from Cricket Wireless on a virtual credit card that I had only ever used on their site (and was declined). It was declined for unrelated reasons (funded from wrong account) so I ended up actually paying through PayPal. I used the card on their site on the 4th of this month.
As I mentioned in the OP, folks have been complaining about the issues with LaView's site being hacked in other threads. I tried being safe by using a virtual credit card that would look down to the first merchant it was used at. Since in this case the charge at LaView originally didn't go through it never got locked to that merchant. I really should have closed it down but simply forgot...

I had a fraud alert today as well. My purchases were around the end of Nov. Guess they haven't gotten their act straightened yet
PLEASE FILE a report.
A quick search shows that LaView is in the City of Industry, and that area is covered by the LA County Sheriffs Department.
Thus imho you should be reporting it to both your local law enforcement agency as well as the LA County Sheriffs Department.

I had some fraudulent charges (and reversals) from 3 different stores in LA/Socal around the 11th or 13th.
It only added up to around $180 because two large transactions were reversed (those would have been around $800 addition).
Sounds like i've found where they came from.
Has anyone reached out to La View? Worth contacting them?

I would start with your CC company, and your local policing agency,...after that, perhaps then LaView.
honestly, I don't think LaView is paying enough attention to it's customers and may not properly address this.

I already called my bank, card had been closed, and issuing me a new one.
Hadn't gone as far as filing a police report....

I think we need to go to that extra step.. folks here are getting taken because LaView is failing to do their job.

They have not bothered to even reply to my request filed through their support ticket system on their website last week. All I got was an auto-reply and nothing after that.
My plan is to call them when I have some free time this week.
Here are the numbers and address I have found for them:
Laview Eagle Eye Tech Inc
18738 San Jose Ave, City Of Industry, CA 91748
626-898-4988 (from Paypal)
(626) 363-7940 (from Mapquest)
(626) 566-7550 (from website, Monday - Friday 9AM-6PM PST)
UPDATE 12/20:
LaView diurlhasbeenblockednd to my ticket in their online system and approved my RMA. I will ship back the defective camera and receive the replacement later, probably in January due to the holidays. I did confirm that the address above is the one to which RMAs are sent. I am pretty sure it's their USA headquarters too. Haven't verified which phone numbers are the best one(s) to call yet.
11/29/19, I placed an order with LaView.
12/13/19, $800+ in fraudulent transactions placed on my credit card to a ticketing agency.
The long version:
I'm a camera installer and I placed an order with LaView for 32 cameras during their Black Friday special. My order was cancelled, initially without any explanation.
After calling their customer service line, which rang to a voicemail box that was full, I eventually transferred myself to their tech support who explained that my order was cancelled due to that camera going out of stock. When I asked if they would honor their Black Friday pricing once the camera came in stock, their answer was no.
Last week I had a fraud alert on my Visa card that was used to make the above purchase with LaView. Of course, I have no direct evidence that the two are related, but I'm another case.
In short, I have done a lot of business with LaView and their prices are competitive but their poor customer service, apparent lack of stock control, and suspicions of fraud security have been enough to steer me to other suppliers.

Edit, refund came through finally.
