I'm curious if anyone knows who makes this display however.
I have personally tested two different R5 ones. I am running clean installed w10 with latest amd chipset and graphic drivers from amd site.
Two issues i have and they were both on the two R5 i tested
1. Once a while, selecting restart in windows will place it in a hang state where after it shows the blue screen saying restarting then it goes to the black screen after that but will not go to the boot screen. So it basically stop continuing on the restart sequence after that. Then i have to press the power button and hold it down to shut off to turn on.
2. HDMI output is very temperatmental. with ext monitor blanking out intermittently. Sometimes happened when playing video with chrome, other time it just happened without chrome. Sometimes it works perfectly and sometimes it doesn't.

I think i agree the QC on this leaves much to be desired. It seems not so much on the construction itself as i haven't heard anyone says theirs comes undone. I think a lot of the bad stuffs comes in the form of the compnonents being suboptimal. no matter how well it's put together, if the components are craps to start with, thing won't run well.

Modem didn't install til I went to driver manager and installed from there.
After that everything seemed fine will test more tomorrow.
This already seems on par if not better than my MacBook prob which cost about 1400. I'll keep an eye and update.
Had nothing but problems with laptop out of the box. Windows would get stuck on black screens, windows would run into errors and not boot. Automatic repair was useless. Installed fresh nvme drive, wlan card, windows os and drivers from motile site and amd(intel for the wlan card) and still had problems.
Flashed bios to 1.05 reinstalled windows and let windows find drivers. Everything has been great for days now.... Not sure whats going on with the drivers off motile site but they caused nothing but issues for me.

I absolutely want to keep this laptop running for as long as I can, and hope that Walmart continues this lineup and does future iterations with better hardware, etc based on our user feedback. If they make modifications like dual channel, and upgrade this lineup with newer hardware as it comes out (e.g, next gen Ryzen)... I mean... Walmart has something seriously amazing here.
Also, I know that SD has several threads running for this laptop, but would it be against the rules if I suggested the idea here to see what people thought if we created a community about these laptops to keep everything organized for us users? It would ensure all of us owners can collaborate on all sorts of owner related things like drivers & show Walmart the strong support we'd have for future laptops made like this. Power in numbers...
Looking through the warranty booklet terms, one concern I noticed is it mentions 1 year of hardware warranty, yet only 90 days for labor?
No laptop manufacturer has that kind of short labor warranty, do they? I've never seen a brand new laptop warranty this short - that's concerning.
I purchased using a card that offers extended warranty benefit, but it only mirrors the existing warranty, so yes I will absolutely get a free additional 1 year of hardware....I'm only getting 90 days extended for labor. That means in total between manufacturer and extended roughly 6 months warranty for labor. Worst case scenario, what's the monetary damage that you guys think the lack of labor warranty coverage could mean for us?
What are people thinking of doing for longer term use of this laptop?
Hoping some of you can weigh in so we can create some momentum so Motile can become what I think it can really become. We have to make sure Walmart continues this amazing value brand and ensure they stand by the product!
Thanks so much guys.
