This isn't the 1990s anymore. Japan has been making top quality guitars for some time now. Definitely on par with the CNC-based MIA stuff for the most part.

Agree. Pretty sure Made in Japan has meant top of the line since at least the 1980's (or even earlier).

This is indeed a slick deal. Not sure if the people complaining that these are MIJ are joking or not but unless you buy custom shop, MIJ is as good as you can get for a Gretsch. Also...a MIJ Gretsch is about as fine an instrument as you can get, anywhere.

What are you talking about? As other have says Japan makes awesome stuff. Some of the Yamaha guitars are way more than this and worth it.
