I just ordered this earlier today. I wasn't convinced that the 8 held enough benefits over the 7, so I saved some money there to put towards batteries and a charger.

I would have bought it from Costco if it was available, which it's not. Nearest Costco that has it is nearly 400 miles away

If you have a dedicated gimbal or don't care about stabilization, stick with 7.

How'd you find out the inventory of the other Costco's closer than 400miles? I haven't found a way to look up their inventory online, how many stores did you call? If there's an online inventory checker I would like to know.

If you chat with customer service online, they're able to look at stores with 25 miles or so. If you call customer care and ask for inventory check, they're able to look by region. However, it is a pain in the rear for them to do so please don't call them and ask them to check all 200 stores in your region, have an idea of which stores you're willing to go to.
