Last deal had 30 upvotes at $280 via Amazon. This is directly from Segway and you can get an additional $20 (which drops it from $199 to $179) by signing up for their emails.

Coupon code: WELCOME20

https://store.segway.com/segway-drift-w1

Update from OP: Use code STAYSAFE19 instead of WELCOME20. You'll save one less dollar on your order ($19 instead of $20 off) but Segway will also donate $19 to Americares to help health care workers. See attachment for more info.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

"As far as rideability, the tiny wheels, unfortunately, mean you need a very friendly riding surface. We're talking ultra nice concrete or the like- minor seams, no rocks, pebbles, twigs, or curbs. Aside from the rubber anti-slip ramps our sidewalks have, which these cant cross due to the huge dimples, your everyday sidewalk panel seams are brutal on the tiny wheels."

"They are much more physically taxing to ride than I anticipated. I think most of that is what I'm going to call the "tiny wheel effect." You spend a great deal of energy maintaining balance over "rough" terrain."

"Only Fun On Smooth Surfaces. Wheels Are Hard & Stiff. Can't ride over small bumps or cracks"
I was part of the kick starter for these 2 years ago and spent many many hours on them and consider myself an expert. Here are my thoughts:

They are only fun on wooden floors or very smooth concrete surfaces. A school gym or an empty shopping mall would be the dream environment for these.
These are toys, not a mode of transportation
Bumps, cracks and uneven surfaces are huge obstacles and not worth attempting.
For most people (including myself) they are very scary at first. Even for those experienced with other personal electric vehicles.
Once you get it they feel as natural as walking (It took me about 3 hours of focused practice to get to this point)
These days, the only time I find myself using these is while sweeping the wooden floors of the house. It makes it a lot of fun and speeds it up quit a bit. This is probably the only practical use I found for these.
The most dangerous thing you can do on these is try to ride on one skate. I almost cracked my head open twice trying to learn this.

Are they worth $300. Absolutely not. Are they worth $150... only if you have been eyeing them for 1 year+ waiting for the price do go down. In my mind they are worth about $89 as an impulse buy.
These are terrible. Use them for a week and you will be doing perfect splits.

It's interesting that you say that, but you would not need much propellant or force to fly around on planets or moons with thicker atmosphere is like Titan, or in the clouds of Venus. We'd have taken to the skies long ago, if our atmosphere was thicker...(though not hellishly hot or cold, and like being at the bottom of the ocean.)
Many people are still waiting for their flying cars, but I'm waiting for my three-dimensional roller skates.

I read a article few year ago about it on our planet. But Agreed, being in a weightless atmosphere it would be very simple to be propelled.

Looks great until you're so fat from lack of exercise
you come crashing down on the pair crushing them.

Is there different speed modes on this?
for example is there a blind mode where a blind person can stand up riding around on these with his blind kane out in front of them?

I sure hope you're joking, but if not, no. There are no speed settings. Lean far forward and it goes fast. Lean a little and it goes slow.

Haven't tested it, but says it's a stackable coupon so can take an extra $19 off on top of the $20 w/ discount code WELCOME20.

I agree, ~$100 or less price point, I'd buy into it even if it were just a toy. $150+, money would be better spent on something else that can be used as actual transportation.

All they had to do was to add a strap on the top, and this equipment's functionality would have improved 10x. What a shame.

Since it's motorized and controlled by leaning forward and backwards it would be extremely dangerous.

I'm not talking about fixating straps. I'm talking about ones that you see on a bicycle pedal, like the front part of a sandal.
