"They are much more physically taxing to ride than I anticipated. I think most of that is what I'm going to call the "tiny wheel effect." You spend a great deal of energy maintaining balance over "rough" terrain."
"Only Fun On Smooth Surfaces. Wheels Are Hard & Stiff. Can't ride over small bumps or cracks"
They are only fun on wooden floors or very smooth concrete surfaces. A school gym or an empty shopping mall would be the dream environment for these.
These are toys, not a mode of transportation
Bumps, cracks and uneven surfaces are huge obstacles and not worth attempting.
For most people (including myself) they are very scary at first. Even for those experienced with other personal electric vehicles.
Once you get it they feel as natural as walking (It took me about 3 hours of focused practice to get to this point)
These days, the only time I find myself using these is while sweeping the wooden floors of the house. It makes it a lot of fun and speeds it up quit a bit. This is probably the only practical use I found for these.
The most dangerous thing you can do on these is try to ride on one skate. I almost cracked my head open twice trying to learn this.
Are they worth $300. Absolutely not. Are they worth $150... only if you have been eyeing them for 1 year+ waiting for the price do go down. In my mind they are worth about $89 as an impulse buy.

Many people are still waiting for their flying cars, but I'm waiting for my three-dimensional roller skates.

I read a article few year ago about it on our planet. But Agreed, being in a weightless atmosphere it would be very simple to be propelled.
you come crashing down on the pair crushing them.
for example is there a blind mode where a blind person can stand up riding around on these with his blind kane out in front of them?
I sure hope you're joking, but if not, no. There are no speed settings. Lean far forward and it goes fast. Lean a little and it goes slow.

Since it's motorized and controlled by leaning forward and backwards it would be extremely dangerous.

I'm not talking about fixating straps. I'm talking about ones that you see on a bicycle pedal, like the front part of a sandal.
