Hey everyone, I bought this over a month ago with the colder weather coming, and I just hit my 100th ride this week so I've become pretty used to the system. I've posted this in similar threads to this and people have found it helpful, so here's my how-to Peloton guide that tells you what you need.

Required items you'll need:

Echelon bike [walmart.com]
Peloton app [onepeloton.com]
Peloton subscription (Note, if you have a friend who has a bike subscription you can ask if they'll create an account for you instead to save some money)
Two streaming devices
One to connect to the Echelon app [echelonfit.com] to display your statistics, usually a phone
One to connect to the Peloton app to display the classes, usually a tablet

Optional add-ons to improve the experience

Wahoo cadence sensor [amazon.com] - iOS support only - this attaches to your bike's gearshaft and can be connected to the Peloton app to integrate your cadence. You'll already be getting cadence information from the Echelon app on your phone, but if you want it to display in the Peloton app, you'll need this too.

Polar OH1+ heart rate sensor [amazon.com] - this wraps around your arm and can provide heart rate data to the Peloton app. Instructors will mention heart rate zones to target in advanced classes, so if you want to be able to follow along you'll need this, but it's not required. You will also get more accurate calorie burn counts with your heart rate being measured.

Note: If you are an iOS user and have an Apple Watch, you have a couple options instead of buying a sensor.

Use Peloton app on your iPhone. If you use your iPhone for displaying the class, it will have direct access to your heart rate from your Apple Watch.

Download HeartCast [apple.com] which allows your Apple Watch to broadcast heart rate over bluetooth. You can pair this with your iPad/Android tablet.

Bicycle mat [amazon.com] - The official Echelon mat is 27"x47", so this should fit underneath it to catch your sweat and protect your carpet/hardwood floor.
1-3lb dumbbells [amazon.com] - In some classes, the instructor will tell you to do some lifts, so you'll need a set of light weights
Peloton to Echelon resistance chart [etsy.com] - The instructor will call out numbers to change your bicycle resistance during the class, but the Echelon uses a different scale so you can print this out or buy one to have as a handy reference.
Gel bicycle seat cover [amazon.com] - If you are gonna be spinning for a long time, the gel will help ease any pain you have in your backside

To get the baseline experience done, you'll need to setup your Echelon bike as described in the manual. After physical setup is complete, download the Echelon app to your phone, and then plug in your bike and start the pairing process.

Next, if you bought either of the optional sensors you'll need to pair them with your ipad/android tablet.

Once paired, to get your Echelon app into freestyle mode to display your statistics, go to the bottom right of the app, select "More", then "Freestyle Ride".

Finally, you will then be able to load the Peloton app on your tablet, select a class, and start going.

Thanks, picked one up.

Don't forget Chase Freedom has Walmart as one of the 5% categories this quarter!

You have to pay for the Peloton app correct? My wife wants me to buy her one of these Peloton type bikes and I'm trying to understand the pros and cons. The one review said the only bike that was "open source" allowing you to use any app was the Bowflex but this is half the price.

Personally I figure I will be watching the bike sit in the corner for six months then I will sell it on Craigslist but maybe I'm wrong.

The $40 subscription plan is a family plan that can be shared with a household member, correct? How does it work exactly? Can we both use the same tablet, but then switch profiles in the app?

DOES YOUR APP ALLOW MORE THAN ONE RIDER IN A HOUSEHOLD OR DOES EACH RIDER NEED THEIR OWN SUBSCRIPTION IN ORDER TO KEEP RIDING METRICS SEPARATE?

We allow up to 5 riders in a household to share a subscription.

HOW DO I ADD A FAMILY MEMBER?

There are two ways to add up to 4 family members. Upon entering the app you will be asked "who's riding today". Tap add family member and fill in all information requested

If you are in the app, please tap your name in the upper right corner. Then tap profile, then you will tap the small person icon in the upper right and follow the steps. Once you have done that you can close your app and reopen it to use the additional profile./span>

Ordered on Oct 11, still waiting for this to ship. Label and tracking available, but no scan. Anybody order this and actually get it in two days? It says two day shipping now.

edit: Anybody receive theirs shipped from California?

let me try again

there are a few bikes costco is selling in-store

including a tour de france version -- the CBC -- similar to this, https://www.costco.com/proform-to...22355.html

I know it isn't echelon, but it's similar and on the conversion lists found online compatible with peloton

seen here and elsewhere: https://www.treadmillreviewguru.c...een-bikes/

I mean... the first thing that would immediately turn me away from the costco bike linked here is the 2.4 star review with 29 of 61 reviews giving the bike 1 star.

never used this bike but a few things
Costco awesome return policy
take a look at costco reviews and some online ones.
appears the price gets low around $300 so would not buy for $500 unless you really want it bad
if you plan on going with peloton class then your conversion is much different than echelon, see if any reddits or other sites that people have tried this bike and had good success converting the resistance
IMO outside having the attached readout I dont see this bike any better than echelon..

Mine shipped from PA today (with an ETA of tomorrow to NYC), so it appears they built up stock on the east cost now.

I got the bike and have 6 months of the "Echelon Sport Plan" ....every video I click says its not supported by the plan. What do I get access to with this supposed $19.99 / month plan?

You should've gone with the $39.99 plan. It's a free trial after all. You'll get access to the videos and live training. I would call and ask to switch to $39.99 plan.
