So what are the cons? It's not thin, nor light. The camera is hot garbage to me, but the wife uses it for Zoom and hasn't complained yet, so there's that. The screen is ... meh. I mean, our phones have better screens, and I'll bet a $150 phone might as well. At first I was concerned about the 4GB of ram, but honestly, it hasn't been a problem YET. I'm sure, in the future we'll have to revisit this. I would like an ethernet jack, but it's hard to tell because they only use them in the house and we have good wi-fi. If we go on vacation, it might be a different story. Also, 128GB of storage is nothing these days. You will run out fast if you have a lot of media. But this problem isn't exclusive to this particular model, as the majority of laptops are in the same boat. So add the cost of external storage (SD card, external drive, cloud) to the overall price. Finally, the battery life is not good. You'll have to pay more to start getting decent longevity.

I switched from Win10s to just win10 and added all the updates and even flashed the bios.
Will see how the attachment goes for SSD from members here for extra storage so I can pick that up.
I got the 8gb stick of ram coming so this should be a nice addition.
Like some people are saying here, no regrets getting this.
the ssd is a samsung PM991 drive.
256gb versions are under $40 on ebay.
just need a backlit keyboard =D
edit: had to disable "flip to boot" option in the bios. opening the lid to have it powered on is wack.

1) Buy an 8GB RAM module for $27.95 to increase RAM to 12GB
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C56K...=UTF8
Chose the "8GB" 2666 module since it was the cheapest option
2) Buy WD 500GB NVMe SSD for $53.99 (+ 10% back on Prime card) to replace stock 128GB NVMe SSD.

3) Buy Enclosure for the removed 128GB SSD $23.99 (+$2 coupon) (not just for the 128GB SSD, but for future use if I get another larger NVMe SSD)

The above items should be arriving from Amazon today and may have a chance to install them in the next couple of days.
So now my $150 laptop is now a $250 laptop. Still happy with the deal and these upgrades should make it much more functional and flexible. Don't want to spend any more than this because the limiting factor is now the non-upgradable CPU.
I still have a SATA cable on order from AliExpress (unless they cancel my order as I requested) and will install an extra SSD I have lying around if that works.

I also installed the sata cable from Amazon and it works properly as well. Flip up the small black hinge on JHDD1 and slide the cable end, blue side up (see photo) You'll just need to remove the battery also to fit the cable underneath.

My goal is to use the laptop for learning about different Linux distributions and using it for things I don't want to risk corrupting my main laptop by installing unsigned software. Just need to figure out the best option for creating a multi-boot system to support 3 - 5 different OSs off the NVMe storage (for best performance) and then I can use the SATA drive for shared storage between the different OSs.
