So what are the cons? It's not thin, nor light. The camera is hot garbage to me, but the wife uses it for Zoom and hasn't complained yet, so there's that. The screen is ... meh. I mean, our phones have better screens, and I'll bet a $150 phone might as well. At first I was concerned about the 4GB of ram, but honestly, it hasn't been a problem YET. I'm sure, in the future we'll have to revisit this. I would like an ethernet jack, but it's hard to tell because they only use them in the house and we have good wi-fi. If we go on vacation, it might be a different story. Also, 128GB of storage is nothing these days. You will run out fast if you have a lot of media. But this problem isn't exclusive to this particular model, as the majority of laptops are in the same boat. So add the cost of external storage (SD card, external drive, cloud) to the overall price. Finally, the battery life is not good. You'll have to pay more to start getting decent longevity.

And while I used to be able to sign up for in-stick alert, that doesn't seem to be working any longer (gives an error). Then again, by the time you get those emails, I'm pretty sure the units will be long gone.

If your budget is not that that tight, go get it more leg room for windows and programs to run.
I was able to pick up another of these laptops for one of my kids to use for school (the Chromebooks they provided are constantly having problems) and was then starting to wonder if I should upgrade the RAM because I was reading that running Zoom meetings while also running Google Classroom and all the other junk they use for remote learning was pushing the limits of 4GB...which would explain the many problems we have with the school Chromebooks. When I saw the lower price I decided to get the 8GB module instead of the 4GB.
Fortunately, there's no reason to upgrade the storage on the kid's laptop since he doesn't really have anything to store on it other than to install apps for things like STEM programming tools and things like that.

It was supposed to be here last Sunday, then Monday, then Wednesday. Now it just showed "delayed."
After a call mid-week and another today, they agreed to substitute this https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lenovo.../103437747 for it.
I think I just got a deal of the year!
1) The order was lost in transit (it didn't even ship, just got assigned a FedEx tracking #)
2) The laptop is in stock so I can just reorder (it's not)
3) I can wait another day and the laptop will be delivered (it hasn't even shipped, and you told me it was lost!)
4) After I called her out on the misinformation, she said they can refund my order and that's all that can be done
We'll see what happens, I'm trying to see who else I can reach out to. I really just want the laptop I ordered. Customer care ticked me off.

I looked up the part number for the integrated camera here:
https://pcsupport.lenov
There are 7 compatible/substitute HD (720p) cameras:
01HW027, 01HW028, 01HW029, 01HW037, 5C20X55538, 5C20X55544, 5C20X55542
*Take note, not all of these cameras with these part numbers have dual mic arrays.
You can buy them directly on Dell's parts website (if in stock): https://lenovo.encompas
I referenced some of the Removal & Replacement videos linked below to get an idea of what I was working with. FYI, I did not follow these videos in detail. I took my own path for replacing the camera. - https://support.lenovo.
My install steps/notes:
1. Removing the bottom cover - I started prying if off the where the LCD hinge is. A pick made short work of it.
2. Separating the top and bottom halves - You only have to disconnect the:
- EDP cable (all in one monitor and camera cable)
- 2x Wifi antenna cables
- 4x hinge screws.
3. Hinge Cover Removal - Slide it to the right as you are looking at the LCD Screen (don't forget to put this back on before you reconnect the two halves).
4. LCD Bezel Removal - I started unclipping the bezel from the bottom and went all the way around. I found that I did not completely remove the bezel. I only separated the top and sides, enough to get access to the camera. The bezel has sticky tape at the top and bottom. I would not recommend messing around with the bottom strip of tape.
5. Camera Removal - I just carefully pried it from the LCD case with a spudger.
6. Installing the new camera - Make sure that the camera you buy has the alignment holes cut out of the adhesive for the alignment pins in the case. If not, a needle and tweezers will fix that.
Notes:
- I tested the camera before I remove the old one to make sure everything worked. Which is why you see the new camera dangling out of the case in my old camera removal photo.
- Probably unrelated to the camera swap. When I first used the camera windows threw an error that the mic was muted. I found that I had to go into Control Panel>HW&SoundSound>Recording and unmute the MIC there as well. I think this had to do with configs I change prior to this swap. But listing it just in case.
- The quality of the new camera is what I would have expected any device in the last decade to have come with. The screenshot/photo I attached with the new camera working doesn't really do it justice (I wasn't going for an emmy).
Hopefully this helps out someone who is thinking of doing the same thing. Was a fun evening project, that and adding in some more ram.
Happy Thanksgiving all!

At the moment I don't have any intention of doing this upgrade, but if I change my mind in the future I'll definitely be coming back to this post.
