Forget the haters! My wife and her aunt have something similar. If the performance is the same, It's a great deal for less tech-savy uses, like home study, or for media consumption. Windows 10 works just fine once you switch out of S mode. Streaming services work, Zoom works, light browsing works (seen the wife with 10 tabs open in Chrome and Edge just fine). They pay bills, do online shopping, write emails - all that stuff. The kids play Roblox and Minecraft. Wife hooks up to the TV to do her workouts. The specs are all low-end, but it is $150.

So what are the cons? It's not thin, nor light. The camera is hot garbage to me, but the wife uses it for Zoom and hasn't complained yet, so there's that. The screen is ... meh. I mean, our phones have better screens, and I'll bet a $150 phone might as well. At first I was concerned about the 4GB of ram, but honestly, it hasn't been a problem YET. I'm sure, in the future we'll have to revisit this. I would like an ethernet jack, but it's hard to tell because they only use them in the house and we have good wi-fi. If we go on vacation, it might be a different story. Also, 128GB of storage is nothing these days. You will run out fast if you have a lot of media. But this problem isn't exclusive to this particular model, as the majority of laptops are in the same boat. So add the cost of external storage (SD card, external drive, cloud) to the overall price. Finally, the battery life is not good. You'll have to pay more to start getting decent longevity.

I'm telling you guys. Avoid these lower end Lenovo laptops. Already purchased and returned two similar models. RAM is soldered and cannot be upgraded. Even running basic tasks on Windows 10 is hard for these to handle, especially with only 4GB of RAM.

I might do an exchange. I did do a total reset and let it get stable and pretty much the same thing.
Did you add RAM? That might make a big difference. Only 4GB of RAM is usually a major bottleneck in a Windows machine.

I got this, it's noticeably laggy and slow with 4GB of RAM. After using it for a bit on 4GB I realized its not gonna do the trick with Chrome especially. Popped off the bottom and put in another 4GB stick I had laying from a previous laptop and now the thing flies smoothly through regular tasks. Screen is 720p yes, but that helps the weak internals work less than they would have to driving a 1080p screen. I don't think this laptop with its specs out of the box is good. After an additional stick of RAM it's great. But that makes it close to a 170 dollar laptop deal and that is still killer.

During this early Black Friday event, I bought two laptops. One is a Lenovo legion, i5, 1650Ti for $699. The other is this ideapad. Turns out, I used this one much more than the other one. It is so much fun to tweak around this cheap machine. For $150, you won't regret it!

Just to pile on....definately a world of a difference when you add more RAM.

I just bought a 8GB ram for my wife's new laptop. She LOVES to open chrome browsers and not close them out when using them.

Anyways, runs great (for basic stuff) with the additional RAM.

Per another post, I just bought this:
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-SNPTD...c888120INT

$10 for a 8gb of used Ram.

It is definitely nvme. My is a WD pc sn520 nvme 2242 length. The reviewer must have thought the keys slot M and B that looks like a SATA m.2 drive. I have a SATA version 2280 that I try to use but not recognize. The SATA version of m.2 drive also has the same M and B slots. But most nvme now is M slot only.

Awesome, thanks for the confirmation! I know it says nvme everywhere else so that threw me. Yea he def had to have just made that assumption on the way it's keyed.

Just got mine and just opened it up to see if it's an easy upgrade which it is thankfully. Looks like the RAM questions have been answered here but the HDD can be upgraded with a 10 pin cable that hooks up directly to the MB.

In case you didn't know, the soldered RAM in this machine is 2400 MHz. The RAM you linked to is 2133 MHz. Not sure if the difference would be noticeable, but the laptop wont operate optimally with 2133 MHz RAM (ideally you would want 2400MHz or higher- higher than 2400 doesn't get you more performance, it's just a matter of price).

I think the reviewer got the B+M SSD meaning he got SATA huh? Check at 2:54.

See below, my comes with the SN520 nvme, low end one that is faster than SATA but it has the B+M slots.
