So what are the cons? It's not thin, nor light. The camera is hot garbage to me, but the wife uses it for Zoom and hasn't complained yet, so there's that. The screen is ... meh. I mean, our phones have better screens, and I'll bet a $150 phone might as well. At first I was concerned about the 4GB of ram, but honestly, it hasn't been a problem YET. I'm sure, in the future we'll have to revisit this. I would like an ethernet jack, but it's hard to tell because they only use them in the house and we have good wi-fi. If we go on vacation, it might be a different story. Also, 128GB of storage is nothing these days. You will run out fast if you have a lot of media. But this problem isn't exclusive to this particular model, as the majority of laptops are in the same boat. So add the cost of external storage (SD card, external drive, cloud) to the overall price. Finally, the battery life is not good. You'll have to pay more to start getting decent longevity.

Different size drives, screen & CPU.
2 $150 and used 2x256gb nvme leftover including $47 of 2x8gb , which are total is 347 plus taxes.
Due to virtual academy for whole semester/yearly, We borrow chromebook from school and my kids complain on how slow chromebook while doing goggle meet and google class.
Long short story. They do not complain anymore...
Speaking of the cam, it is the same quality with loaned chromebook from school.

Minimally you have to install 8gb ram. Seeing on average 8gb of 12gb used overall. Google chrome mostly use..

Unscrewed the back, used a target gift card I had, took a few tries to get it going, opened the back, the slot to insert the RAM card is right there, ready to go. First disconnected the battery power, added RAM, reconnected battery, popped the cover back on, and screwed it in. Done.
I'm also using this for my son in place of his very slow, lagging loaned school chromebook. Kids don't need the best quality web cam. Have had no issues, works very well for a low end system, and after taxes and expanded RAM, $189 or so. While it might have been easier to just say "Buy a $320-$430 one (after tax)", I only needed a $189 computer, and I'm not planning on using money I don't have to buy it.
Husband gave the thumbs up, he was surprised how easy it was to upgrade it.
Adding other remote learning sites . These killing chorme os to terminate some processes.
8g ram should be minimal for chromebook which is not upgradable or one empty slot not available

Even for used, go with branded ram. Ebay probably your best source, unless you know any computer surplus store at your local. Price may not be that much difference. Then use memtest86+ to test it over night or something like 6 passes, if error found return it.
Sorry I've never used those app or extension but I had opened around 10 tabs with youtube, yahoo, amazon, sd, email, doc...etc. open before and the worst ever encounter was ram down to 0.28GB and it wouldn't save in cache and ran sluggish that was about it. From my experience it has something to do with enabling google play store.

I gave DroidCam a try out, using a spare Moto G5 I have... it has a much better 13MP main camera. The app and the Windows Client both worked well, but the entire arrangement was awkward.... launching them in the proper order and having to ensure that my WAN didn't change the IP address of the camera between connections was a growing pain, and with the phone using the main (back) camera meant I had to spin it around to face the screen away from me, denying me the chance to deal with any popup notifications. The camera being located in a place OTHER than where my desktop webcam was meant I was getting nice "profile" views, forcing me to turn away from my screen to look at the camera when I was talking with my Zoom participants... and for some reason the video from the camera was flipped 180 degrees, which was a simple enough fix within Zoom, but it was still something else that I had to deal with.
It worked. It was a compromise. It was awkward. But it worked.
However, having a simpler connect-once-and-forget-about-it solution... particularly one that could mount on the display itself and be more or less in line with my line of sight would be a boon. I hadn't gone to Amazon looking for a webcam - one just happened to pop up as a lightning deal while I was there, and for less than $15 it was certainly worth a try.
I'm not recommending everyone go out and get a cheap webcam... we've already had plenty of side threads about how much post-delivery money folks are spending to overcome some of the Ideapad's shortcomings. I'm only sharing that a cheap solution to a problem I was encountering landed in my lap - and if anyone cares about it I'll be happy to post a review of it once it arrives.
