it's only an ok deal if you want those two tools. The Ratchet is often a freebie when you buy an M12 set, but is fairly pricey on its own. The impact is bulky and weak for the size. Non-fuel model. This is not the mid-torque or high-torque that you hear people rave about, but it might be good enough for your uses.

Would you say this is a good value for a DIY'er for basic auto service (brakes, tire rotations, basic suspension work, etc.)?

FYI, the impact wrench is not the brushless Fuel version.

It's good for most of those things you listed if you can get it to fit. It's fairly large and bulky for things behind the wheel. For brakes and suspension work I would go with the m12 impact wrench or the ridgid subcompact 18 volt impact wrench.

Depends, do you live in a rust heavy area? If you do then its worth splurging on the high torque fuel model. This thing definitely could not break a lot of the nuts on my rusty truck.

I bought this deal the last time it was available for the same price. I know it is not brushless motor but it is very strong. I used to replace an engine and went through tough to remove exhaust manifold bolts and many, many tire removal without issue. It is too powerful if anything. However, if I'm to buy something like this today, I'd get the $260 DeWalt from Grainger's.

Does Milwaukee sell hard plastic cases for either of these tools separately? I'd like to own them but I don't want to keep them in crappy sub-gym-quality canvas bags. If I have to pay more to get to a line that has hard cases I will just to protect my tools better.

$35 on ebay for the M18 impact case. I don't think there's a hard case for M12 ratchet.

If you want the best get a Milwaukee Packout with foam insert.

Packout: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa.../303005652
Insert: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa.../308838292

Kaizen foam is cheaper: https://kaizeninserts.com/t/milwaukee

The above are examples only, there are many ongoing deals on various Packout options.
