On att.com trade in page, it says that I need to enter a promo code. Where would I enter that with the above plan?

-- Buy any iPhone 12 from Walmart. Online and store both have them at the same price. Only difference would be getting an unlock device if ordered online.
-- It will be on a 30 months installment plan and not 24.
-- You will get about $150 instant credit. Discount is already included in the price shown. Walmart is advertising $200 off but they have also inflated price by $50.
-- You can trade your device on ATT.com but most of us will suggest you to go to the store and do it over there. There are numerous horror stories where people have trade in online, shipped their good condition device but only to be told that their device is damaged and/or not eligible for whatever reasons. I have already trade in 2 devices at store and each time it took about 15 minutes.
-- $700 credit will be given over 30 months installment. It may take 1-2 billing cycles for the credit to show up. Mine took 1 billing cycle.
-- Device balance must be on a 30 months installment to receive full $700 credit. If balance is paid off before then credit will stop. There are some online posts where balance was paid off and credit is still showing up. You can decide if the risk is worth it or not.
Hope everything is clear now.

I have a IPhone7, 2 IphoneXR in the Mobile Shared Advantage Plan 15GB
Should I upgrade to a Starter Unlimited plan first with AT&T before trying this deal out?
I am planning to buy a IPhone8 for $200 so that I can upgrade the IPhone7 to IPhone12 Mini with trade in of this purchased IPhone8.
This is the break down:
Walmart: IPhone12 Mini $19.30/month x30=$579
Purchased IPhone8 +200
Tradein value of IPhone8 from AT&T -700
--------
Cost of IPhone12 mini: $79 Is this correct?
I need another line for my other child. Should I buy another IPhone8 to add a line with a IPhone8 trade in?
The IPhoneXRs are still under contract for 3 more payments. On the AT&T website, it said that it's eligible for upgrade...Can I upgrade these to IPhone12s with IPhoneXRs trade in?
Please help...Thank you!
Called AT&T and they couldn't see anything on my account that would be causing this.
Yes, I got the same message for the first time like 6 weeks back and keep seeing this when I tried to other once in a while afterwards. I accidentally tried today and boom it let me order it. Hopefully I will get an unlocked phone.
The 6s isn't eligible for the $700 in bill credits. It has to be an 8 or newer

Thanks in advance !!
I understand they use the WARP system to sell a phone - they had a Samsung S10e phone from Verizon but I want to use with Tmobile and the guy said he has to put the carrier in when he sells it to me even if I pay in full. I guess that means I will be under contract with Verizon?
-----------------------
I could buy a Google Pixel 4a 128GB for $349.99 at bestbuy (unlocked) or I could get a Verizon Samsung S10e from Walmart and stay with Verizon for 2 months (with taxes and 2 months I will pay $370 for the S10e. Not sure which deal to do. I just need a phone with a good camera, don't care about other stuff.

If purchase price (regardless of vendor) is say 1200.
Can I pay down 1200 - 700 = 500 when I get phone, then allow the 700 in credits to proceed with essentially a net 0 balance each month for 30 months? I like clear billing per phone.

I like your thinking. Majority of us don't want to live with the extra monthly payment burden.
Unfortunately, I really don't know whether carrier will like your plan or not. Main concern here is any changes on the device payment and having them stop your credits for whatever reasons. Sorry but don't have any definitive answer for you. Call your carrier and see what they say. Good luck!
