deal [adorama.com]
$699 + free s/h
These need a solid amp to get the best out of them. These also have the latest headband, which is not only much softer, more comfy but does not rely on rubber tension for clamping power, so it should be much more reliable.
It also comes in a new color and box is marked Adorama exclusive

I did. I bought HE6 and my friend loaned me LCD4 along with Chord Dave amp(that how he is insane). My headphone amp is Monolith platinum driving all my power hungry cans. My music amp is Yamaha A-S1200. I spend almost month playing with them and than same did my friend as he was interested in HE6 himself.
Bottom line i sold HE6 after all without any regret.
HE6 is very good sounding cans when driven properly, but they no way in same league as LCD4. Sorry, it is what it is. For that price it's definitely good buy if you already own good amp. Otherwise it will open gate for more spending in order to let the sounds right.

I've heard the same thing about dynamics. I am trying to find an adapter to run them off my stereo to find out. Ill report back if I get one before this deal ends.
These are really impressive cans. I'm waiting to order an adapter. Im interested to hear if they get even better. Honestly I'm not sure how anything could sound much better than these now. The bass is full, the dynamics are great and drums sound incredible.
My Hifiman adapter arrived today. Im powering my HE6SE off of my Yamaha RX-V683. In comparing it to my THX789 and Balanced Grace DAC I would say there is no question the THX789 sounds better. It is more accurate, nuanced, airy and just all around better.
I might be making some mistakes in my comparison. Im using Airplay with Tidal to feed my Yamaha receiver. Im using my Macbook Pro and Tidal to feed the THX.
My conclusions so far is that the THX is more than enough to power these cans and they sound stunningly good.
If anyone has any questions/suggestions Ill check back on this thread periodically.

Currently I am using a Liquid platinum which has 3.6 watts into 50 Ohms per channel which I think is sufficient to drive these beasts. They do sound amazing, awesome resolution especially in the bass. Some reviews said you need at least 5 watts into 50 Ohms for this to shine.
Dont need to wait til 60. Just play electric guitar.

Im sure the right receiver would find the sweet spot for these cans. Part of the fun to me is hunting it down. That said, I think I found the sweet spot with my headphone setup for my purposed.
Good luck and happy listening!
