Wow great deal. You could use the S20 as a stepping stone to the S21 by trading it in next year. You may even get more than $400 trade in credit.

It's unlocked, but you need to stay in fi for 90 days to get your $600 discount

For anyone wondering about using the phone with your non-fi carrier, I've now gotten an email by Google with my first bill and there's no charge.

I activated the fi sim via the fi app in the S20 the moment I received it and installed all the updates then did a factory reset which also deleted the app. While it was booting during factory reset, I took out the fi sim and inserted my main carrier sim and I have not yet received any notification on my credit card of any $600 charges.

My next bill is February 15th. If google deems I have broken the promo criteria, I'd believe I would see it by the next bill. I am extremely confident you can use the phone with another carrier sim as long as the fi sim is not used in another phone. Will report back if I get charged.
Did you get the $600 promo after 90 days?

He already has the promo, I think what you need to ask is whether he was charged $600 for possibly violating the Fi's T & C.

Yes it is. Nothing has changed other than the count down continuing to go lower.

As of this comment, I have 6 days left in the promo. I will cancel immediately after.

3rd bill already generated about 2 weeks ago. Same amount for all 3 months so far.

Fi SIM has been in the S20 box since day one after port-in and activation. No $600 charge. No funny emails from Google Fi. Nothing but smooth sailing using my primary pre-paid carrier SIM since I got the phone.
I am wondering if I can cancel now after all promo criteria are satisfied, or should I wait for 1 more day? The system also shows that I earned $600.00 promo credit. The next bill will be generated tomorrow.

This is the question to ask.

And the answer is no, I have not been charged the $600 promo discount. In other words, I have no broken the promo in any way.

Once my account has "Earned" the promo, I will wait around 12-24 hours before canceling. I'll probably be charged but it's prorated so it'll probably be like $1-$2.

I checked with Google FI CS, and they said all terms have been met, and I could go ahead to cancel the service. And I have done that! BTW, Google FI goes with a monthly bill, not 30-day bill. So even though my next statement, which will be the 4th one, will only be available tomorrow, I have been active for 91 days. It is because the service was activated on Jan. 11.

Same here. I activated on Jan 11th. Took the FI sim out and periodically used it on the phone I bought from google to make a few calls and send out text messages. My promo showed earned and I ported it out to another provider. Looks like my total cost will be $425 for phone, $8 for number, $27 for the first 2 months service and $7 for the third month ($20 referral credit). So approximately $490 for everything.

Checking in again and nothing to report.

I got the S20. Activated and ported in a burner pre paid number. The day I received the phone, I downloaded the fi app and activated and ported in and waited for all the system updates to complete and did a factory reset and removed the fi sim and used my primary sim.

I just got charged $26.xx for the first months service. No break in promo.

My fi sim has been removed and placed into the S20 box since I removed it.
I have 73 days left on my promo.
Can you confirm that after the 90 days you did not get charged 600$? In some reddit threads people who did the same got charged after the 90 day period was over.

How would they charge you once the terms of the promo are met? It clearly shows on my account that $600 was earned

That is the confirmation I was looking for. Smallpenny did not give any update till now that the $600 was earned, it was supposed to happen on 4/16 for him. Also are there other folks that did a factory reset and used another sim in the s20, and still got $600 earned? I have another phone with mint sim that i can use for now with mobile hotspot for s20, though it would be easier to not need it.

Here is what I did:
1. Activated the phone on 1/12. Made a few calls and sent some texts. Did a master reset and used my Tmobile SIM.
2. Every Few days I would pop in my FI Sim and make a few calls and texts.
3. Kept an eye on the countdown. After 90 days were done the promo moved to earned. I ported the number out on day 91.

I activated the phone on 01/19, then canceled 04/19, 90 days after. They are now disputing it saying I did not meet the terms.

I responded back telling them to Google "What is 90 consecutive days from 01/19/2021" and sent them a screenshot of the result...(It says 04/19/2021). Pending response ...

TBH, I wasn't even counting it to the day, it was just dumb luck I saw 3 bills and canceled on the exact day šŸ™„šŸ¤«

Yeah, I'll pay the few extra dollars of a prorated bill and cancel on the 95th day or whatever.

Don't wanna give these guys any reason to deny the $600 discount.

When you say the promo was moved to earned, is there actually a page that shows "earned"? Or you're just talking about the tracker showing complete? I can't seem to find the page where it tells me I have successfully "earned" the promo..
