-------------COMPARE to WYZE V3

+PROS: Eufy...................Wyze

--cooldown:
--subscription:
--video goes directly to phone, not overseas server first like with wyze delayed
--live stream works via Google Nest Home (Eufy)
--Better built-in human / pet detection AI (Eufy)

+CONS: Eufy...................Wyze

wyze v3 is an improvement over v2 but not an improvement over eufy. eufy has a very big advantage: built in Ai, 2K, notification speed . . .

the only thing wyze v3 has going for it is the water resistant, but that becomes irrelevant if the camera can not perform as expected.
Wyze has a 5 minute cool down period which makes the camera essentially useless. This is mentioned in the Wyze forum. You have to pay for the Wyze CamPlus subscription service to avoid the 5 minute cool down. Wyze gives away free/cheap razor (the camera) to sell you the blades (subscription).
Eufy 2K cam is so much better.
Cheapest I've purchased was 28$. This is a good price. Also a former wyze cam convert.

This is incorrect. You can put in a Micro SD card and get continuous recording. The cloud clip storage is the component with a 5 minute cooldown, not the MSD recording. The CamPlus gives continuous recording to the cloud without cooldown and person detection for I think 2 bucks a month, which if you don't want to use a MSD is your option. Eufy doesn't offer any cloud clip storage without pay, so even at a 5 minute cooldown on the free tier Wyze still beats Eufy.

Eufy charges 3 bucks a month for 30 day cloud clip storage to a single camera. That means for 6 bucks a month you could have 3 Wyze V3's on CamPlus with a much better picture and a lower purchase price compared to only 2 Eufy 2k cams.

these cameras are good but beware you can only pair them in Home Assistant ONCE

once you disconnect / it has a connection issue, good luck getting it to pair again

The starlight sensor in the Wyze V3 also blows Eufy out of the water and completely tilts the decision towards Wyze. You get full color, high def video at night if you even have the slightest bit of ambient light. You can make out license plates, faces, etc. On a Eufy 2k at 20+ feet away, you're going to struggle to read a license plate or clearly make out a face.

Comparison?

Do you think the price would go down by a little in the future? I got my first Eufy cam to see if it is any good compared to Wyze and it is much better than I expected.

Last time I bought the double pack (a few months ago), I paid $70. I also bought some individuals for $28 ea. a few weeks later. D'oh!

I had several Wyze cams and only use 1 yet, but I'm much happier with the Eufy overall. Both have their quirks, but I'll take the Eufy quirks over the Wyze ones. Eufy offers so much more at no cost, which Wyze charges for.

2K isn't much higher resolution to FHD, but I'll take it! The clarity of these cameras to the Wyze is superior, and prior to their starlight (?) sensor on the WC3, these Eufy blew my WC2 cams out of the water in terms of night clarity and brightness. I don't use IR on these, because Eufy doesn't let you turn off the LEDs and turn on the filter (like Wyze), but the ambient light and no IR is good enough for me.

I have over 60+ wyze v2 and 30+ Wyze v3 deployed in commercial locations. I agree that 20 dollars for an out door camera is brilliant. I also now have 6 Eufy cams, and they are also great. I do agree that picture quality in dark conditions is better on the v3 vs the v2 and Eufy.

If Eufy allowed me to record to home base, i would switch over. However since these cameras do not, i will stick with wyze v3 as they are water resistant and work very well. Also I like companies that keep updating their products, which wyze is all about. Not so sure about Eufy.

Thanks for the link to the review. I'm watching this on a 4k monitor and the Wyze video looks much clearer than the EUFY, especially when he steps away. There seems to be a lot of ghosting and motion blur with the EUFY. I can make out his face pretty well on the WYZE at 25 ft but not the EUFY 2k and 1080p. I tried this on different resolutions on YouTube and same results. Are you seeing the same? Blurring is especially apparent when he's moving (most likely due to the lower frame rate in the EUFY).

The overall picture the EUFY wins in clarity but faces and when there's movement, it's much worse.

I have a wyze v2 since 2018 and got 2k pan and tilt last week. Using both outdoors and tried at same location to see the difference. It's night and day. Eufy is amazing. I also have a wyze v3 in hand unopened which I am selling since I don't want to pay for subscription for person detection....

The only issue is person detection is not perfect which is to be expected as I am using outdoor at ceiling level on a fairly wide area... Works better at daytime but since I have a Nest doorbell covering the front so it's fine as nest always works and eufy gives me crystal clear all around recording 24X7 if I have to go back and check an event...

I think wyze v3 will be way better than v2 and starlight at night better than eufy in terms of color night vision but the resolution still matters if you zoom in...

Overall none is perfect but eufy is better than wyze in general if you look at their app especially... Makes it easy to search interesting events unlike wyze.. their app sucks.

My 2 cents

but you don't need Cloud Clip recording with Eufy... since it's all local on the camera and you can get to it from anywhere via the app.
yes, you can put a µSD card in the Wyze and have continuous recording, but the free notifications are still on a 5min cooldown (so you won't get notifications for somebody walking to the back of your house, then the front for instance, you'll have to manually look through the recording.) also worth note, i have many times that my Wyze cameras recording skips large chunks of time... so i miss quite a bit at my front door, which isn't great.

with Eufy, you don't need to pay anything to have remotely available notifications or constant recording, there's no need for the cloud based nonsense. this isn't the case with Wyze, you need to pay to get past the 5min cooldown and have person detection (that sucks, horribly btw.) in the end, when Eufy is on sale, the prices are similar when you factor in the CamPlus package to make Wyze more viable... while getting a better app and much faster/better person detection with Eufy.

Can anyone attest if these could be used as "baby monitors"? i.e., can I have the video feed on continuously at night?

Ok so we all have to know - are you constantly playing whack-a-mole with cameras disconnecting or do they all seem to behave? Any reliability difference between v2/v3 so far?

I don't understand why Wyze can't allow you view the videos that is captured in the microsd card via the app. Their business model is to make people to use their cloud service whereas Eufy is fine with you not doing that and Eufy allows you to use RTSP server without some firmware hack. Regardless of the video quality of both products, this is the reason why I want to switch to Eufy.

Time lapse.

Agree on eufy over Wyze, converted most of mine over. I know it seems maybe a little stupid, but I will always keep a Wyze or two as long as Wyze has time lapse and eufy does not. I have an awesome view and have just dozens of cool timelapses of rain/snow/lightning storms, sunsets, etc.

Wyze live streams all your cams at once when you open the app, does anyone know how to do this with eufy without downloading another app (like tinycam)? That's one of the annoying things I found with eufy but everything else has been pretty darn good compared to my Wyze v2.

Strongly disagree. Eufy has onboard person detection but even that is a tradeoff because you have to pay for cloud clips. Wyze offers free cloud storage for clips but charges for person detection so it's absolutely a wash between the two. Eufy video at 2k is more of an advertising thing and doesn't mean much because the Wyze V3 has a much better picture in all lighting conditions.
Based on this review, it looks like you only get either full color video or high def video at night, but not both. Wyze might claim otherwise, but the samples here show a huge drop-off in detail and resolution when enabling color mode at night. https://www.reviewgeek.com/58075/...p-forward/

Within the last 2 weeks after noticing Eufy cameras. I have bought 3 pan tilt 2k indoor and 2 eufy 2k indoor regular. If the pan tilt goes on sale, i would recommend those over these. Don't get me wrong, they are exactly the same but built structure. 1 of my regular indoor 2k hanging on the ceiling keeps moving because there's a slight tension on the charging cable. With a slight tension, it's enough to move the camera adjustment off over a short period of time. The camera assembly doesn't have tension adjustment on the ball. Therefore it tends to move easily. Pan tilt version is stationary with camera adjust thru the app which is great. Also pan tilt have tracking system which is pretty cool as well

WISH THE EUFYCAM 2K PRO GOES ON SALE SOON. Also, ordered the 2k Doorbell coming soon. Very excited switching to Eufy

For the one complaining not able to connect to homebase. Not sure why its a problem since its indoor camera with SD card slot. Also, I set the camera to record to NAS RTSP. Excellent feature if you have a NAS. I have test it and its been working flawlessly

I'll throw my experience in too: I was a Wyze V2 owner and when the camera just randomly shit the bed, I contacted their customer service and they said they couldn't do anything because it was out of the warranty period.

Tried out this Eufy cam and was slightly skeptical, but has surpassed all my expectations in every way. Haven't looked back.
