1. They all sound like jet engines whenever you do any intensive task
2. You cannot run the graphics card at full power on the battery. This was news to me. And it will still sound like a jet engine when on load. For this reason, gaming laptops dont make sense, unless you have a real reason for it having to be portable. With todays work from home situation, for most people. You are better off with a desktop, and a long hdmi cable, and/or portable itx build, if you really want to move it around your home. its cheaper and you get more and full power pc.
3. Very little upgrading path. Once something breaks or needs an upgrade, you are kind of screwed and at the mercy of your warranty.
What does make sense, is a very light weight, long battery life Ryzen or new Intel 11th gen build with hdmi 2.0.
Thank you - I ordered one but am having second thoughts. Good to know I have until it arrives to make up my mind, which will be after February 9.
You mean $622 ?

My novice take is that this Lenovo is better for gaming but the processor on the gateway makes it better for overall speed/performance for non-gaming tasks. Although maybe the extra 4GB of RAM in the Lenovo makes up for the weaker processor.
Thoughts?
Also, there are times where you use a laptop for things other than gaming, and times where battery life matters.

people who get a gaming laptop because they want the portability around the house (gonna be hard taking an itx build and a monitor around the house: from bedroom to living room to basement) or even work that requires traveling (want to see how you can travel around the country or the world with a gaming capable desktop).
any laptops have very little upgrade path but thank goodness Intel fell asleep for the past 6 years that there's very little advancement in terms of CPU processing power that AMD was able to catch up and even surpass them.
Probably meant $622

There obviously are cons of gaming laptops against gaming desktops. That said, there are plenty of reasons to get one.
Most people are aware you can't game extended periods on battery. That doesn't mean the portability isn't useful. I take mine to my parents when I visit. I play games like Civ6 or Xcom2 on my couch or when flying on an airplane. I can use it on business trips. Have used it occasionally at a video game in person tournament. I own a separate gaming desktop, doesn't mean I don't also want a gaming laptop.
As far as battery life, it doesn't have integrated intel graphics you can switch to; meaning it runs the rtx2060 all the time. This translates to somewhere between 2-4 hours of battery life depending on the task; but again I don't think most people get a machine like this for battery longevity. They'd be more apt to get an ultra mobile 13' laptop like an XPS 13 or MacBook Air.
