Apparently you can use the internal manual launcher to run ROMs without being online, but from what I read it is not anywhere near as much of a nice experience going that route unless you only have a handful of games you want to use.
Ah, ok, pardon my ignorance, I do not yet have the device and just now doing the research... (and have plenty of experience with RetroPi setups and whatnot....

Just ordered a fresh 128gb 3.0 stick as I am traveling and don't have one with me, so all good, yeah, I can imagine perhaps it being a little slower (like the RPi setups) when you kinda bloat the image and/or game amount...

I have one of these and I am telling you it is a no brainer for 100. I bought mine for 150 and added a ton of games through awesome sauce. You can get almost any arcade game you want if you search for it. The hardware isn't top of the line but usable and very affordable for what it is. I recommend buying a plug to directly power the joystick and not use it wirelessly. The lag is noticeable on bluetooth.
I was wondering if this was possible. What would one need to connect it directly, and avoid Bluetooth? I have the Legends Ultimate on order, and am wondering if I can just detach the joysticks from that, and hook them directly into my TV? TIA

Just ordered this. Wondering if anyone knows if there are any external spinners available for this that can plug in to the USB port. I'm a huge Tempest fan and want to be able to play it. Anyone know if the trackball will work for Tempest or if I need a spinner? TIA!
You can play Tempest from the online service. It is geared to play with the trackball. You can also install a spinner if you want to with a simple modification but the part costs about half the price of this machine.

A. I don't check upvotes or downvotes, because I simply don't care one way or another if someone liked my comment or not, just as you shouldn't worry about getting everybody's approval or disapproval.

B. You keep trolling me when I was actually discussing this product. A couple people actually shared constructive dialogue while you have whined and fussed. Perhaps a Huggies deal would be more "fitting" for you...

C. For the majority of people this will be return fodder when they don't bother to check the garbage selection of games that come with it, and don't want to go through the hassle of modding it, which is probably why they're trying to unload them at close to 60 percent off.

D. You can fuss at me all you like. However, I'm not going to invest myself in your feelings over this thing. If you buy it, I hope you enjoy it, but beyond that, what you do or don't do is irrelevant to me because you have proven yourself to be a rude crybaby. Grow up!

E. If you want to stop hearing me say anything, then stop jabbering your nonsense at me. Really, don't say anything and I can assure you I will have no interest in directing anything at you. And on that note..."Bye!"

This deal is a steal! I ordered this and the pedestal from Buy Stuff Store, because I just want to plug and play. Tried my hand at modding a full size cabinet and got overwhelmed. Way more effort than I can afford to put into it. Plus I love the mobility of this being able to set this up in my man cave, or living room, or even outside on a projector screen. This seems like a dream! Can't wait!

I've had constructive dialogue with many people in this thread. You haven't had anything constructive worth addressing. Just your personal preferences you seem to think the world hangs on but nobody cares about, idiotic claims about how you can build a dual arcade stick with trackball for less money, ignorance that you can add games to this just as easily as you can a Raspberry Pi, the insulting suggestion the only reason somebody might want an arcade stick is because they're too dumb to build something else, the insanely ignorant claim that a $200-$300 controller for $100 is a "cash grab", and in general just shown a complete and utter ignorance of the product and been a complete tool.

Quote :

Again, irrelevant as there is just as much ability to add games to this or use it with a completely different system.

Quote :

Again, just as easy as a Raspberry Pi. And it's amusing that you're both dismissive of people that want something easier than a Raspberry Pi or equivalent while simultaneously suggesting that something that's not ready to go right out of the box has no value.

I say this in 100% sincerity, you need to hear that your only detracting from the conversation. Don't do that.

Oh, the irony.

If you want an arcade style controller this is a fabulous deal. If you don't, then obviously this isn't the product for you. It's not rocket science. And stop wasting your time and everybody else's on a product you obviously have no interest in.

The pedestal with chrome finish is about another $100 bringing total to $200. I am contemplating getting something like this or making one myself once I test this out.
- All the tutorial vids look easy to follow. And the most difficult parts are getting the games downloaded, and taking the time to setting up the USB flash drive with the games. Have an available 64gb or 128gb usb drive ready to be used. And I've seen one person on youtube with about 4 or 5 USB flash drives to unplug and plug in to load different games.
- Other things to consider are a power adapter for the controller instead of running on battery.
- Maybe one minor issue annoyance I heard in a youtube vid, is all the Highscores for games running on USB flash drive do not save.
One question, how is the diagonal movement on the joystick? Is it precise, or a little difficult to move it in some games. I thought I heard someone mention bad diagnonal movement. Not sure if it's recommended to mod the stick with different hardware parts to improve this more, or maybe it's unnecessary for a majority of the games.

It is a cash grab. To get most of the better games, they want you to pay $19/mo for most of their better games but there's still a very low number of available games, or they want you to pay $1/hr for their Cloud service so you can play games from other services like Steam, Epic, Origin, Etc... If you want to play your own games or use a third party service for games, it is my understand you have to use an earlier version of the firmware. How many people do you really believe are going to want to go through the trouble of going through all the extra steps to play a decent library of games with this particular controller? If I had to guess, it's probably less than 5 percent of the market. This is why I have an issue with it even at $99. It's a greedy business model and requires a lot of effort to make this thing worthwhile. Additionally, I wouldn't want to be stuck indefinitely on an earlier version of the firmware or I may run into new obstacles with it down the road. Apparently you find this view of it "offensive" because who knows why? If it was just a matter of pulling it out of the box and adding ROMs, I may even consider it for $99, but it isn't.

Again, I don't make comments to appease people. I welcome differing opinions and don't value my view over anybody else's, but I'm not going to pretend to think differently than I do. If you want one of these, then by all means get one. I sincerely hope you enjoy it if you do, but it's just not for me as-is.

Usually the people who go around calling others "sad and pathetic" are the ones who actually feel that way about themselves. A confident person will want to project confidence towards others, a happy person will want others to be happy around them, and sad and miserable people look for the same. Like the old saying, "Misery loves company."

I'm not the person you are ranting with, but....

Nothing I read or watched online mentions anything about needing to be on some older/special firmware. Quite to the contrary, most of the guides or troubleshooting information I found specifically says to make sure you are on the LATEST firmware. So I believe you are mistaken there.

I did read something about how earlier firmware stored the CoinOpX on the internal flash storage, and that changed to start using a special partition on a USB drive. And some people who didn't understand this when they upgraded ended up wiping their games when it formatted their existing games-only USB stick. But that's the only somewhat negative thing I read about anything to do with firmware changes.

How many games did that Raspberry Pi you seem so pleased with come with? About 150 games fewer than this does. It's no more trouble to add games to this than to a Raspberry Pi. The fact of the matter is if you throw the "console" part of this out and use it with another device it's still a fabulous deal just for the arcade stick. I'm not sure what is so utterly deficient in what you call a brain you can't understand that.

What CPU/board is this built around, and what game family/ecosystem are the included games from? Can you connect this to a RetroPi and how do the 2 game platforms compare? I'm thinking of building or getting something like this for my nephew and don't know much about all the various options.
The Legends Ultimate has Rockchip RK3328 quad core ARM Cortex A53 with Mali 450 MP4. The "puck" brain in this should also have a RK3328.
