Try connecting to another device. I connected it to my phone and verified that the bluetooth radio was sending junk inputs (the same way it did on the puck).
Also, if you're feeling adventurous, open it up and unseat and reseat all the connections. I may help, but it shouldn't hurt.
And a question: Do the ball/bat tops on joysticks all share a single unified thread? I saw people mentioning replacing theirs with bat tops and I don't want to accidentally order the wrong thread.

I did basically the same thing as you...but am considering returning the 128GB for a 256GB.
Two recommendations...
Search Amazon for "Sabrent 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub with Individual LED Power Switches | 2 Ft Cable | Slim & Portable | for Mac & PC (HB-UM43)". It is $12 and has four ports with switches on them. Perfect for a couple of thumb drives and a USB out to the controller for charging or wired play. I have two separate thumb drive configs, so hitting power off on one and power on for the other is nice. This model was recommended by a YouTuber who explained the USB stick setup process.
Second, grab a "LoveRPi MicroUSB Push On Off Power Switch Cable for Raspberry Pi (Female to Male)" (also at Amazon) when they are back in stock, it was only a few bucks and creates a power button for the puck if you want one.
Thanks for your feedback on CoinOpsX. This should help others not getting coinops working on their first try.
I just finished installing a large 88gb of files (NES,SNES, Sega, Atari,Amiga, C64,TG16, Daphne), on a 128gb samsung fit plus drive, and ran AddonX fine on a pc success in 1hr. Then I saw the same error message as you,( it showed a zero instead of a check mark on coinops).....
So I will try your last suggestion by rebooting it, and see if it works...will update this post later after I have it working.
I suspect what was stopping the AddonX software from completing the process on my first PC was some antivirus software I was running. I had to reinstall Windows on an old Linux machine I had lying around and running the AddonX tool successfully completed on that machine. It should be noted that it was a fresh install of windows with no third-party antivirus software working on it. I noticed in some Reddit threads that others were speculating that antivirus software may be to blame for the failures.

Walmart's online ordering is a mess and has been for years. If it's something in short supply, its a crap shoot. I've had at least 5 sets of (workout) weights sets canceled on me in the last 2 months.
For this, I wanted some insurance so I also ordered 3 ------ 2 to be sent to my work address and 1 to my home address.......Walmart ended up sending me 4.
If Walmart's online ordering wasn't so unreliable, I'd consider ordering its 'prime' subscription but I can't bring myself to do it.

(I don't have any fancy videos and logos on my console games on coinopsx so I must be using different packages versus others who have that setup nicely...But they have console bezels.)

(Also some arcade games not working for me eg. Run and gun...Could be lack of enough memory by the Puck software/ USB flash drive not fast enough or corrupt files.unsure...
update:...now just figuring out how to make Daphne games show up. I remember reading about them earlier in this thread that you have to place the contents folder at the root of the drive so I will try figuring that out later.
update: yes Daphne is working... just move contents folder to the root, and files in the cox folder to the root cox folder; also made a second copy of UCE daphne files & merged them with Arcade 4.5 sauce uce files. -- movie contents folder will also apply to Sega CD/ TG16 cd games--i didn't get those since they are 50+gb compilations each--will need to spend more time/ more flash drives for those---probably just skip those until much later. Classic arcade is good enough for now....
-----------
New minor issue: I found my A button on Player 1 started vibrating a little with a spring noise--maybe just needs tightening up. So maybe too much mashing of that button loosened it. I might take it apart and repair/replace/reseat it in the future... Not sure I will take it apart yet, since it has perfect sticking rubber feet stickers on the bottom covering the 8 screws. If buttons become more annoying, I Might look into replacing with HAPP JAMMA convex buttons / switches from eBay [ebay.com].
update: after rotating the buttons a bit and only mashing on them lightly, the vibrating spring is less noticeable.
But hard intense fast button mashing may again bring out the spring noise...
