For anyone wanting the Woodwind and the Sear Box, this 2-step purchase could save $100 in addition to $45 in Kohl's rewards.

Buy the Camp Chef Woodwind 24" pellet grill by 3/14/21, get $150 in Kohl's Cash and 5% ($40) in Kohl's Rewards (rewards are awarded in the form of Kohl's Cash of sorts, the first of the month).

Use the $150 in Kohl's Cash toward the sear box March 15-21. They sell the sear box for $250. Earn 5% ($5) in Kohl's Rewards on the $100 balance. $100 + tax out of pocket.

Kohl's appears to offer free shipping on these items, even though some other Camp Chef grills have a large item shipping surcharge.

Normal price for the grill $799. Just because the grill box is $250, makes this a deal? IDK, even $100 off on the sear box isn't that great. It goes on sale for $199 on Amazon often, and normal price for the main grill is $799. I guess if you were already going to buy this.

I am looking for a grill/smoker. Went to Cabelas to take a look. From what I read online Camp Chef was a good bet. However, the lid seemed flimsy and not built as good as the Traeger.

If you are looking to spend this much. Get a Recteq or Gorilla Grills, or step up to a Yoder, Blaze N, Mak. All people who buy Traegers and Camp Chefs are happy until they see an actual quality pellet grill in person. Then they are disappointed in what they bought, or just convince themselves it's still ok because they wasted the money already.

Camp Chef is a good product, but to have two different fuel sources for a $1k product seems a bit much. For $100 more you can buy Weber E4 and no need for an extra burner. It's the reason i don't have a gas grill anymore. At the same time if i cooked outside allot and needed a burner this grill would be a nice alternative instead of having two different grills.

This is for people wanting the package and $100 off plus $45 in Kohl's cash is the best I've seen for the Woodwind since I started shopping for a Camp Chef a few months ago.

If you did cook outside a lot you would have 4 or 5 different grills! The e4 looks nice but Weber made a lot of lifelong customers mad by releasing a product that wasn't ready for prime time and had major issues.

I'm in the market for a pellet grill, but I'd like something that can do a good sear after I sous vide. It seems like the Camp Chef combo with the sear box is the best solution? Right?

I hope this isnt the Weber that was received horribly when it was released. I got my Woodwind right as the Weber was being released. I had been using Webers for over 20 years, I am a fan. Seeing the reviews of people complaining that their pellets weren't feeding and the thing was catching on fire all the time made me pretty happy with my purchase. I cant tell you how many reviews I watched on YouTube saying it was going back, including Baby Back Maniac who was invited to preview it and raved about the pre-production unit.

At the end of the day, they both work exactly the same. Pellets are fed into a firebox, ignited, and then stoked with a fan. There is no way you are getting the same sear on your SmokeFire as on that searbox. Smokefire is rated up to 600, sear box is rated up to 900 and you have the benefit of being able to have it at full temp instead of ramping up your heat when you are done smoking.

This is "a" solution that is very compact and functions well. If its in your price range, I would certainly entertain this deal. I cannot really say if its the best solution.

That is the solution I went with though you don't necessarily need the Woodwind if you didn't want to spend that much. Any of their 24" or larger grills allow you to use the Searbox. I'll probably use it a lot more for searing sous vide goodies than smoking and it will keep me from having to heat up my Weber Genesis to sear a single steak.

I have a NG CharBroil grill, a CampChef Pellet Smoker, and a 360 Griddle that I can throw in a wok.
Yes.
4 sounds about right! Big Grin
And my name is not Sam.

As for this specific pellet smoker, I do not recommend it.
I think the better option is a Slide and Grill version if cooking few items.
All the newer models of higher end pellet grills have a version of Slide and Grill where you get flame broiling when you want it.
For the pellet grill, I mainly cook by smoke ribs, butt, and brisket. I smoke burgers, too. I've never had a need to flame broil. If so, I use my NG grill, and if you need to for a lot of burgers or steaks, then the grill is superior to the pellet smoker.

I've got a weber propane grill for quick things and steaks, then a weber charcoal grill if I want to add some flavor to what I'm cooking, then a stick smoker and a pitboss pellet which will soon be replaced by a Rec-Teq.
Personally I don't think the pellet grill adds enough smoke flavor to the longer smoke items like butt or briskets so I do them on the stick smoker for 8 to 12 hours and then move them over to the pellet smoker to finish them off. Most people are satisfied with the smoke flavor from a pellet but it just doesn't do it for me. I usually smoke way more meat than the family will eat so I usually take some to a couple of my coworkers that really like it. The one time I did the entire cook on the pellet grill they all asked if I had done something different because the meat just wasn't as good as usual, it was lacking the good smoke flavor mine always has.

Interesting.
I never had issues with my pellet. Maybe the brand? For the pellet, I use Traeger's blend from Costco because it is versatile (and I don't have to change the hopper).
I originally smoked pork ribs with the 3-2-1 method, and found it WAY TOO smoky in flavor.
Granted, I do not have experience smoking with anything other than a pellet grill.

I have a smoke box for wood chips in my gas grill.
It does fine for quick items like steaks and finishing off ribs.
Best smoke chips I've used were the Jack Daniels barrel chips. I loved that flavor on steaks and ribs. Today, I just use mesquite chips for cow and hickory chips for pigas they're cheap and readily available.
