They do make a reusable capsule, it just has a specific barcode on it. It isn't necessarily DRM, more of a barcode telling the machine what to brew since this machine does coffee and espresso. This has a lot of cool flavors, but capsules cost more than the original, plus no third party options. I wanted a nespresso specifically for espresso, so I went with the original line since all reviews state the espresso from the original is better due to the 19 bars of pressure. Both machines are fantastic if you like espresso, but do your research before investing. Or ask on here, I looked into it a lot before buying, and I'm sure other SD'ers could also guide you.

Starbucks actually has their vertuo pod line out now but there's fierce "debate" over whether it counts because I think nespresso still makes them with Starbucks supplied coffee. Its definitely not like the original line where there's a lot of different options, but I think nestle is still taking this online with some other coffee cos this year.

I don't have this model but from what I've read, there's minor differences between the models over the years with the end result being extremely similar. Team Intenso & Stormio for the regular flavor line & picked up some of those Starbucks pods in Sumatra and they were quite enjoyable as well, for anyone that likes darker roasts and needs idea on picks.
