Only the Platinum card. Also this is in-house cell phone insurance by Amex, Visa and Mastercard's cell phone insurance is administered 3rd party and they are a pain to deal with
To get coverage:
You must charge your monthly Eligible Cellular Wireless Telephone bill to your Eligible Card Account. You are eligible for coverage the first day of the calendar month following the payment of your Eligible Cellular Wireless Telephone bill using your Eligible Card Account. If you pay an Eligible Cellular Wireless Telephone bill with your Eligible Card Account and fail to pay a subsequent bill using your Eligible Card Account in a particular month, your coverage period changes as follows:
Seems to be AIG subsidiary, "Coverage is provided by New Hampshire Insurance Company, an AIG Company."

How would they know who's phone you're referencing? You guys are too focused in the weeds
You have to be focused on the details when it comes to insurance plans. An insurance plan that isn't very specific about what is and isn't covered and to what extent is a worthless insurance plan.
In this specific case, the credit cards have specific card holders, and phone lines are attached to individual names as well. The fact that this insurance stipulates that the phone was purchased at an activating retailer means it may not even matter if you paid for the phone yourself if the name on the activation is not yours. So if you're paying for a family members phone and plan with your Amex, but that family member is not a card holder, it's not at all clear that that phone is covered.
Clearly you have zero knowledge on the benefits and perks of the American Express Platinum
Actually I am very clear on them and have found that none of them pertain to me to make the $550 annual fee worthwhile.. But please let us know which ones you find beneficial for you and (apparently) everyone else that pays for itself.
I'm a 21 year AMEX customer and find my Gold card more beneficial with accumulation of points and many of the other benefits of Platinum at a far lower annual cost.
This is not a deal if you are with Verizon. $10 auto pay per line falls off if you use a CC which is 25-33% on each of my lines with that anount being taken off pre-tax.
If Verizon would add this benefit to the branded Visa they keep pushing, I'd sign up for that card....
I love the platinum card, too. I won't repeat the obvious benefits plenty of other people have already mentioned, but in addition, don't forget the food and general household Amex offers - some Plat only, some not. They're not a big % off but if you're going to buy them anyways why not. Here's just a list of what I've taken advantage of YMMV:
(I'm just going off memory these numbers may not be exact)
$25 off $50 Sunbasket x2
$10 off $50 Imperfect Foods x3 (and for every additional card)
$20 off $100 Thrive Market
$5 off $15 Jersey Mike's
$5 off $15 Slice Pizza
$10 off $50 Gelson's
$50 off $100 Gold Belly (not great though - IMO everything is pricey)
$50 off $50 Home Chef x3
$50 off $250 Instacart plus free Instacart Express membership ($29 value)
$25 off $100 Daily Harvest
$15 off $50 Grove Collaborative
I also grabbed $7 off HBO Max x3 which also could be used with additional cardholders (no longer available)
EDIT: I mentioned additional cardholders because I have it, but the extra $175 cost for additional cardholders is not really a great value I would recommend. I only have it because my dad travels a lot and I share the lounge access.
REI MC covers the protection if you pay the bills using their CC. My S8 stopped working. I filed a claim using the quote Samsung provided. It was $479. Deduction is $50. I got $429. Originally I had only paid $375 on a brand new S8.
I have this card and had no idea. I guess I just have to have partial or full payment on the card every month?
