This is true 100%

I had a back up tracfone, loaded for a years service that I kept in my car. Didn't use it for months and when I actually needed it, guess what it was deactivated. I called CS and they told me if the phone isn't being used on a semi regular basis they deactivate it. I told them this was AN EMERGEMCY PHONE THAT I PREPAID FOR A YEARS SERVICE and their reply was "sorry sir, that's our policy."

Many reps have no clue about these sims.
I wouldn't take a chance on trying to activate one with a Verizon locked TF, it will be frustrating.
If you have a TF capable of GSM (recent DL models) AT&T or T-mo TF sim can be activated (keep number & balance will total) because it doesn't tie sim to phone IMEI.
You can then reactivate the old sim if you want - keeping number - & phone number/plan will switch back to Verizon service on original sim. Your 12 months to unlock will likely start over due to reactivation if that makes a difference.
Hope that makes sense, there's more info in details at beginning of thread.

Are you saying you can also then subsequently switch back to the originally supplied Verizon SIM card of a locked TF device, and this will also in fact start the countdown for unlock eligibility?? Btw, I've read that first post a bunch of times, it definitely doesn't say you can also do this, in particular with locked TF devices (with the added bonus of being put on the unlock eligibility countdown timer).

The boneheads at TF eBay mailed me the $1 SIM KIT. Now shipping it back.

Update: within two hours of contacting TF eBay regarding their error in shipping the $1 SIM KIT, a refund in full was issued. Great Service!! Should I reorder?

Send a text to your email address. You will then see what address it came from. Mine comes from (myphoneNumber)@vtext.com. If I go to vtext.com, that redirects to Verizon.

I have verizon base account, and I did activate a new unlocked phone with a new number. Then after it activated, I added it to my TF account. Chatted with TF agent, and told them very clearly to merge my minutes, text and time to my existing number. It worked no problem (this was from Dec 2019 deal)

Some reps know more than others, that's why these are YMMV for Verizon locked TF users. Many refuse to even help when they don't activate with plan.

It looks like the same thing as the $1 sim kit but should be preloaded with the service plan. Inside is only 1 sim card for network you chose, BYOP kit has 3 sims for all 3 networks. Outside of pkg is exactly the same - there is no mention of the plan on pkg but it is listed on your receipt.

Everything with Tracfone seems to be YMMV depending on the rep. I have deactivated, moved plan to AT&T sim then reactivated the Verizon line with same number/plan. The year hasn't completed on mine but reports on other forums indicate it should still be unlockable after year of service. No guarantees though, since these sims aren't meant for locked TF, they're for BYOP unlocked phones.

"Outside of pkg is exactly the same" - Not quite true. While the packaging may look similar between the two; The package code for the Verizon Pre-Loaded 1200/1200/3G plan is TFATKTMC4NA-TRIETB
The package code for a $1.00 Verizon-SIM KIT is TFATKTMUNA-NL
The packing slip/receipt I received listed the item shipped as TFATKTMC4NA-TRIETB - However, included in the envelope I received was the item with package code TFATKTMUNA-NL
Its going back. I only hope its not happening to lots of folks.

I just don't deal with tracfone phone reps, I haven't for 5 years (if I can help it) . Because many of these tracfone reps are living in other countries , in large phone pools, just like walmart does (off hours). I have not had a single problem with adding tracfone sims, both tracfone phones with new sim, or this sim only package (like this thread is about) using Tracfone Website. I discussed this in prior post. All my tracfones are Locked, I don't need to unlock them, since I stay with tracfone, and don't have problems putting an active sim card in any of them (provided it's the same carrier sim). I like the drop down menu for activation, and making sure it's to right phone number, or sim. I would hope you agree with me some tracfone phone reps can screw things up. Smilie Why put yourself in that situation of calling tracfone phone rep if there is better way. Visit Tracfone Website to make changes and do print screen or save to print to pdf , so you have proof to show if you run into problems.

I don't call reps either, past experiences have shown most long time users know more than the reps. 😊

On the package, it says sims card and I must buy a play. I thought I was getting the one-year loan. Anyone with a similar experience. I bought a year-long plan last year and activation was smooth.

Darn. I got the one in Dec. 2020 but haven't activated. It's way past the supposed -within 60 days- activation requirement.

Classic. Although I do prefer these people to the ones who will fight tooth and nail to get back $5, like the ones in the boost mobile thread that got a sim that couldnt be activated.

So last year, back in April I tried getting the old style listing where they gave you a 3-in-1 carrier SIM card kit and the refill code to top off an existing plan that I had. They gave me an AT&T only preloaded card and me not knowing at the time that you can basically port an existing number to stack, I asked for a refund and they never asked for the card back. So I just assumed they invalidated it, but I forgot about it.

Fast foward 6 months later I found that kit while doing some cleaning and said hey I'll either see if this still works, or if it doesn't throw it out. It still activated. It wasn't until a month later that I found out you can still stack them laugh out loud

I'd say at this point, just give it a shot to see if it will still activate.
