They got a pretty nice, quad dac in here, with amplification to drive some pretty powerful headphones that other devices or bluetooth wouldn't be able to.
Dual screen is a nice extra, I do use it much more than I expected to - it's nice to have completely separate screens for multitasking and watching videos.
Finally, the battery is incredible. It's advertised to have a 4000mah battery, but the most interesting thing was that when I first bought it (over a year ago), my accubattery app showed a 4500mah battery estimate. Basically, the battery was larger than advertised, and it definitely showed in longevity. Even today, an entire year later, I'm at 4200mah effective capacity, and can go 2 days of pretty regular use without even thinking about recharging.
Downsides? Not much for this phone alone - it does everything I need, from music, to apps, to games, to just browsing the web.
THAT SAID: there's one thing to keep in mind about this phone - these days you can get the LG V60 thinq, basically the successor to this phone, with the dual screen accessory, for around $400. The deals for the V60 may be fewer and further between, but I've seen it at costco for $400 with the dual screen, and it took all of my willpower to not buy it then and there. Wait a bit, and you'll have a chance to get what's basically an upgrade in every way over the G8x, for around the same price. I think it is a hard pass at this price. Maybe for sub $300.00.

I'd be inclined to believe that it's an Accubattery reading mistake rather than a bigger-than-advertised physical battery...
but at the end of the day if you get good battery life that's what matters!

I would not count on ever getting an update for this LG G8X. But I paid $165 from the Cricket V35 deal last year and the phone is fantastic at that price point.

I tend to keep a phone for 3 years... I would not get a new phone unless it was 5G.
