This device is carrier-unlocked, meaning a SIM card and service plan must be purchased separately. The tool below will show you expected compatibility with networks around the world. This should be used as reference and does not guarantee compatibility.

I have this phone, and I like it because of the headphone jack.
They got a pretty nice, quad dac in here, with amplification to drive some pretty powerful headphones that other devices or bluetooth wouldn't be able to.

Dual screen is a nice extra, I do use it much more than I expected to - it's nice to have completely separate screens for multitasking and watching videos.

Finally, the battery is incredible. It's advertised to have a 4000mah battery, but the most interesting thing was that when I first bought it (over a year ago), my accubattery app showed a 4500mah battery estimate. Basically, the battery was larger than advertised, and it definitely showed in longevity. Even today, an entire year later, I'm at 4200mah effective capacity, and can go 2 days of pretty regular use without even thinking about recharging.

Downsides? Not much for this phone alone - it does everything I need, from music, to apps, to games, to just browsing the web.

THAT SAID: there's one thing to keep in mind about this phone - these days you can get the LG V60 thinq, basically the successor to this phone, with the dual screen accessory, for around $400. The deals for the V60 may be fewer and further between, but I've seen it at costco for $400 with the dual screen, and it took all of my willpower to not buy it then and there. Wait a bit, and you'll have a chance to get what's basically an upgrade in every way over the G8x, for around the same price. (this was the deal btw https://slickdeals.net/f/14502593-costco-t-mobile-lg-v60-5g-dual-screen-smartphone-no-new-line-required-399-99?src=SiteSearchV2Algo1)
Don't blame LG (entirely) - it's the carriers. This is one of their latest scams to locking ~your~ phone to their, one network, to prevent portability, and using their paying customers like bargaining chips, so they can make potentially make money from, or have leverage with, other carriers over roaming/tower agreements. I know I'm generalizing here, but VoLTE licensing and compatibility is ridiculous. Can you imagine, building a communication protocol/tool for the ~global phone networks~, in this day and age, that's proprietary and incompatible with everyone else? When something doesn't add up, follow the money.

You like it because the headphone jack lol
I've struggled with my S21 Ultra because it has no headphone jack. Bluetooth 5 still has unexpected drop-outs, noise, and distortion. Bluetooth music is always shouty and flat to my ears, especially when I use good headphones. I'm looking at the V60 or the G8X because of the headphone jack and the DAC. I'm sorry to hear that LG is getting out of the business but it doesn't pause my consideration of the LG V60 or G8X.

Don't know any reason why people should buy LG phones. No updates, no real support, tasteless generic phones with glitchy gimmicky software, unreliable hardware, overpriced and overestimated
because it a cheap capable phone.

Bought one on their previous sale, same price. I already had one but the price was pretty good back then. Was hoping it drop a few more due to LG exiting business but still a good price. Their V series suck in the battery department but the G series are pretty good.

The G8 and G8x are pretty good phones. Not sure why others are complaining of lag. Maybe they should wait for Snapdragon 2000...but then they'll still complain. Oh well...

LG can kiss my butt crack. Their phones are trash. They don't provide consistent updates and they have a history of defects.

"Updates" have caused a lot of people to have problems. I had iPhone shut down because I didn't take an update right away. Updates can be nice but I've been greatful my LG phones weren't always updating. I really just want to make calls for most part and dont use phone to live on the web where all the crap is. People got the Android 11 update and a lot of people were crying over problems.

I bought this phone used for like $350 a year ago. Its for some reason stuck on Android 9 and says "already up to date" when I try to upgrade it.

Other than that, its a pretty nice phone. I don't use the dual screen often but when I do, its really helpful. I get 10~ on screen time pretty consistently which seems good compared to others.

Rooting/moding seems limited tho which sucks. I want to change what the google assistance button does

If you bought it unlocked it may still be tied to the original carrier in that it won't update without the right SIM in it; check your model number and see which carrier originally sold it, an ATT phone needs an ATT network SIM to pull the update. You can get a cricket prepaid sim and pop that in there then try the update again

Does customer has Canadian Rom on this phone and have issue. Am I read wrong?

That person has a version with a canadian rom and different model number than what is being sold. This one will work with Tmo.

I tried using a TMO version of the LG V60 ThinQ 5G on a TMO mnvo, and had a VERY similar experience to the post linked by nowayman.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/...x.4185809/
The phone showed as incompatible with EVERY carrier, as it didn't support VoLTE. LG told me the same thing that the phone is capable and has the necessary bands for VoLTE, but didn't say that the carrier has to enable this.
My advice is to replace the phone asap if it's showing incompatible by IMEI compatibility check instead of trying to fix it.
