I used to love these and have 4 sets. These exact batteries that I purchased in 2020 and at the end of 2019 stopped keeping a full charge between uses and even worse, a number of my battery powered led lighting products no longer "recognize" these batteries. It's like they aren't even there. I have the really nice OPUS charging & testing unit and despite multiple cycles of "discharge & refresh" the Amazon AA batteries (both 2000 & 2450 mAh) continue to experience these issues.

You can order excellent high capacity AA batteries from IKEA and of course, look for sales on the top brands (Fujitsu runs deals fairly often).

Bottom Line, these Amazon batteries are hit & miss and definitely do not last "forever" .... more like months to a year (although the Amazon rechargeable batteries I purchased PRIOR to 2019 are great and haven't caused me any problems).
During a Amazonbasics aaa deal, people said that they are made in China. So, these too very well could be. I bought these a couple of times in the past, but they died much sooner than my Eneloops did. I now go for quality than quantity. If you can't wait for a deal and have an Ikea nearby, consider getting some Ladda rechargeables. They are reportedly made in Japan and are relabeled Panasonic/Eneloops.

Last time I checked LADDAS were no longer available locally or online ymmv perhaps.

How about you back that up with some pics? The Laddas I bought in 2020 and 2021 were really old stock and have late 2018 date codes -- but they clearly show as made in Japan.
Here's your pudding.

16pk EBL AA rechargeable batteries are $21.83 with coupon. (No S&S required) which costs 25% more than Amazon Basics... But EBL is 2800 mAh vs 2000 mAh.

Capacity isn't everything with a rechargeable battery, you can just recharge them. But I always want to go with the highest capacity. Just annoying to recharge them all the time. And as they degrade over time, that 2000 mAh will become 1500 mAh and so on.

Never mind that - While EBL batteries may have a capacity of 2500 - 2800 mAh for the listed 2800 batteries, after 1 year they degrade down 85%, compared to amazon basics 97%.... even if those numbers aren't perfectly accurate, its enough to know to avoid em.

Anybody know of alternate locations in Ikea where they have found Ladda rechargeable batteries? My local store says there is a 20-30 units left but they are not in their designated section in the lighting department. Employees I asked did not seem to know where else they might be. Anyone seen them elsewhere in the store?

Pre-covid a store by me also had them displayed on a random end cap on the furniture floor (as well as in lighting) but haven't seen them placed there again. If your store has only 20-30 units left, that is approximately a third of a display carton and could be hard to find — or impossible if inventory is off.

Check reviews on these.

EBL have been tested to have terrible internal resistance over time.

So, while they might have higher starting capacity, they drain faster.

LOL, are you sure those EBLs are really 2800mAh when brand new? Wink If they really are then I don't believe those cells could be LSD. I personally wouldn't purchase a non-LSD battery without a specific application for it (that warranted needing more capacity over LSD). That said, I understand what you are saying about weighing the capacity of a battery when it comes to pricing -- doing that makes those 2450mA Ikea Ladda AAs look rather appealing.

I've bought a 16 pack of the AAA. It seems at one point they might have been decent, cheaper alternatives to Eneloop, but I would NOT recommend these Made in China AmazonBasics rechargeables.

Over the years I've used some bad rechargeables such as Energizers, but these AmazonBasics were the absolute worse because no longer did some not charge when I only owned them for about a year with only a couple of charge/discharge cycles, but they also leaked and partially melted a decent charger I owned.

At best they are crappy rechargeables. At worse they can pose a dangerous threat while charging. Stay far away from these and don't be lured in by the cheaper price!

I've got a question about chargers. I've got a charger that works fine, but if a battery is completely dead, it just says "null" and won't charge it. To get around this, I usually put a full battery in the charger with the null battery and connect them with a wire (charger is off), and it'll usually jump start the dead battery enough where the charger will start charging the "null" battery. Are there any chargers that will just go ahead and charge dead rechargeable batteries without resorting to this trick?

My 2 pack of Ladda 4xAA from few weeks ago were made in Japan.

Says on the label "Standard charge 245mA for 16 hours". Does this mean you should not charge at 500mA speed?
I tried charging at 200mA because the next step up for my charger is 500mA. Some of them would not trigger full charge so it kept on charging past 2500mAh and I manually pulled it out at around 3000mAh.

I wonder what amp rate people are charging their AA batteries at.

I'll probably pickup some more next time go to IKEA.
I think the Amazon Basics are better than EBL brand.

IKEA e-commerce is shit even before COVID. Their online order processing and customer service is completely dysfunctional, phone wait time is longer than USPS
Hmmm strange. I just ordered some from ikea and my order went through. I'll probably get a cancelation..

If 0 volts not charger will recognize it. Has to have at least .01 so that it gets detected. I do the same thing u do....jump start the batteries...

Perhaps a *subscription* for *rechargeable* batteries should be a red flag that they don't last long. Just sayin' ...
