Up to 830 is because if you buy 12mini it will have trade in credit or only $730 and not $830 and it you buy 12pro or pro max then you will only get $830 and rest will be on you. That's what upto $830 means so yes iPhone 8 will get you upto $830 depending on the device you choose

Where is Costco? They use to have similar deal as Tmobile but not lately. Wonder if we didn't kill the golden goose by canceling "new line" after getting the rebate.

For those of you trying to get a phone from SWAPPA like a iPhone 8 or S9 series, make sure you do order from an individual seller where the item/images clearly display the listing number.

In that case it's a unique listing offer and the IMEI will be displayed on the sales page right after your purchase. If you order good quality or spend $10 more for mint you should be golden. Once purchased on the sales page you will see the serial number (IMEI):

If you order from an enterprise seller with generic images and none displays the unique listing number the IMEI will NOT show up and you may have to wait until they are back in the office on Monday and the deal could be over.

I find it weird that you had to pay 100 bucks in one transaction then 200 in another

Did anyone get a trade-in amount of $0? That's what I got for my unlocked S9 in the store but I just checked on their website and I should have gotten $65. My account shows "Monthly credits remaining:" as 24 and "Amount of monthly credit:" as $34.59 which seems correct though?
That's because they apply the trade in amount toward the phone, which they can do in the store as the trade in is verify by them and given credit right away. . Thus you will be receiving the full $830 credit split into 24 months.

Guys,
I am currently with Tello. We are a family of 5 and paying about $15/person for 2GB of data per month. So $15 x 5 people = $75 total. But Tello never have any free phones offers.

I am tempted to port to T-Mobile to jump onto all these free/upgrade to lastest phones they're offering. I don't mind to pay a bit more maybe like $150/month for 5 people if we get to upgrade our phones every 24 months.

Any suggestion? or what is the cheapest way to jump onto these deals?
Thank you in advance.

Don't do what I did today. I almost threw my laptop AND my existing iPhone 11 Pro over the absolute waste of time spent on this F$%#! deal.

1.) Study the math on the T-Mobile offer to determine how they're applying the credits
2.) Attempt a trade-in with my existing iPhone 11 Pro, realizing I can do so with a far cheaper device
3.) Attempt to locate a cheaper device, but none remain with friends or family
4.) Purchase an iPhone 8 on Swappa to apply to the trade, but not receive the IMEI because it was from an Enterprise Seller, who are not required to disclose said IMEI
5.) Register an account on SD and post about it, realizing everyone here has already purchased the remaining "cheap" eligible phones from individual accounts using Seller 2.0 on Swappa. You guys always beat out someone like myself who takes far too much time to study the deal.

I just wasted $230 and am going to walk away from this opportunity, despite having two eligible lines for the purchase. Absolute waste of a few hours today.
I feel a bit better about trading in my 256MB X now. I probably would have had your experience trying to undercut it.

Have you tried a VPN? Have any friends on the west coast you can ask to do it for you?
I was actually able to call customer service and get it done that way. I had to pay the $20, but they comped express shipping in return. I got 1 S21 and 1 Iphone 12. I'm pretty happy with that.

Because that's the value of the phone. So $830 - $95 = $735 is your bill credit. $95 will be a credit to your account.
Thanks for the feedback.

Interesting... first time in all these threads someone is saying you can change the IMEI of your trade in after it has been submitted. Everyone kept saying you had to cancel the order and do it again.
In past T-Mobile/Costco trade in threads for the big rebates, a few people mentioned this as well. Simply cross out the imei on the print out and write in the new one.

I personally never tried it but it appeared to work.

Anyone know if you can change the trade in phone? let's say I have a iPhone X and iPhone SE2.

Online I did the trade in as iPhone X and changed my mind and want to trade in the iPhone SE2 instead now

Edit looks like it was just answered right before I posted

Phone technically should be paid off before you sell it. Any remaining credits get applied to the account as the EIP will be paid off. The buyer can trade it in without issues as there isn't a balance.
Phone is paid off when it's paid off. If op sells a financed phone it cannot be traded in until it's paid off. Person buying a financed phone will not pay it off and will be screwed until op receives all the bill credits.

new question: can you trade in a phone that's still on EIP? or do you have to pay it off first?

The best way to do it was that many people signed up to a T-Mobile plan and over time we would get free lines with T-Mobile promos. These free lines would qualify for these trade in promos. It takes a lot more time so you have to see if it's worth it for you.

There are other ways to get cheaper devices but you have to put in work and time which not many people want to do

It's hard to tell what the best option for you would be, since Tello is a TMo reseller. You'd definitely be paying more than $75/mo, though - you'd probably have to go with either Essentials ($120/mo + taxes&fees) or Magenta ($160/mo, including t&f, including Netflix). You may be able to get a hookup discount, IDK if those are still available right now.

As far as phones go, you could do the "iPhone 12. Get one on us with every plan." promo, that has a limit of 4 devices/account so you'd still have to buy a 5th one through a separate promo. That also assumes you have eligible devices to trade in.

The reality is that you have to monitor these deals to see what's available, and whether switching makes sense to you.

Quick clarification - prepaying but keeping the device/line active and in use has no penalties, right? Due to the delay on credits/other timing vs partial reimbursement i get from work I may make partial payments when credits hit.
