So instead of plugging the charging cable in, you pay extra to snap this on, and it charges slower? Maybe it's just me, but I don't get the point of this
Goos price! The charger attaches to my apple case firmly, and charges decently fast. However, the cable is too short for it to be practical. I purchased it to use it in bed/couch but ended up using it on the desk due to short cable.
You don't need to be hard wire. The phone just needs to be in a charging state.

you ever try to plug in your phone in the dark?
I totally get this problem because I had it too. So I got these:

https://www.amazon.com/OHill-Adhesive-Holders-Organizing-Office/dp/B07FTD8HS4/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&ke... [amazon.com]

and stuck them on the side of my bed, with the wire dropping down in a set position. So in the dark I just need to reach back and grab, follow the cable to its end, and then I can plug it in without even looking at it. The difference with these wireless chargers is that you can put a preset location on your nightstand and you can move your phone around a bit until you feel the magnetic "lock". It would seem like this is easier, but you're either mounting the wireless charger (which makes it difficult to charge while using your phone in bed), or your trying to remember to put your magnet charger back in the same place every time. It actually is a bigger pain. Possible the best would be to attach the wireless charger to the side of my bed like I do the lightning cable but honestly I'm just too lazy to get up and swap the cables.

I just bought an iPhone 12 today and … I am not buying this. I do use a wireless charger dock, but the normal speed ones are completely adequate overnight. (This helps reduce debris buildup in the port, IME, just by virtue of using it less.) If I am in more of a hurry than "overnight", I will plug into USB C and the phone charges really fast. Oh, and I can use my own convenient length cables for the dock and the direct charge.

I'm assuming MagSafe is good for something but I'm still waiting to find out what.

So when they remove the port and I upgrade phones I would also need to upgrade cars 😮
I mean, if your car doesn't have Bluetooth at the very least, I would assume so. Even if MagSafe gained the ability to carry data, I doubt your car would be able to process it as an audio stream if it's so old that it doesn't have bluetooth.

Using wireless charger means: you only need to have one charging system setup and it works for both iOS Android and all other Qi compatible devices. Which also means: your cable and your charging/data port will have 0 chance to break.

I have this with a 20w Apple charger. Had to use an extension cord because the cord is way too small. The magnet is weak and doesn't work with a thin speck case. It also does not charge my phone as fast as expected. I definitely prefer a charge from usbc to lightning cable.

This is a really good observation. Perhaps it's my own experience but iPhone lightning ports wear down over time as you un/plug your cable. That would be the only benefit is that you wear that port out slower
have you ever owned a phone long enough to where thats an issue?

You guys think this works?
Says it extends length while keeping speed intact

2020 Accord here and same. But yeah I think that's the gist of it. MagSafe already requires USB-C to charge at the highest possible speeds, so I would assume that if data over MagSafe ever gets added, it would require a USB-C port, something that our cars also don't have.

I guess it isn't out of the question, MagSafe for instance can already do NFC, which definitely isn't large data transfers (music/maps) but it's a start. Whether it'll work with current equipment in our cars is the real question.

A whole 3 reviews? Yeah, right.

And, even if it works, you won't know how well or even if it's safe to use because it's not Apple certified.

Just plug the wall adapter into an extension cord.

charging cables have notorious reliability issues, pins are subject to wear and tear.

it may charge slower, but 15W is relatively fast.

you're also buying genuine apple, dont like it, sell on offerup in a few months, and you'll likely recoup all costs, considering the deal.

genuine apple is a little bit extra, but you get the premium quality. My wife insisted on a $50 apple case for her 12..... I feel less bad after getting the case, it is indeed the nicest quality I've seen, just that little extra over ordinary cases. I'm running a generic case, cost a fraction, and quality and finish are also a fraction of OEM.
