I thought both modems are dying but why both? Now I read your issue. It seems comcast is trying to kill our own modems?
lawsuit to comcast?
I don't know WTF is going on or where the problem lies, but every time I install a MS Update I lose my WIFI within the hour.
No updating going on here anymore.
Umm no they don't. Especially the ones with the PUMA chipsets. I switched to a Netgear Cm1000 after having to constantly reset my SB6190.

Are they trying to do a firmware update? You need to call tech support and ask them why.
I have heard from other reviews that it's a hit or a miss with these Walmart refurbs modems….just test it out within 14 days to ensure it works and your good to go. I've gotten consistent 300-350 speeds with it.
Side note, I'd recommend upgrading to something better >$100 and 3.1 model. You're going to need it at some point in the future, but this refurb for the price and need work great too
This CM500 is an older modem but the same I'm using, went to Wal-Mart, I had brickseek make a UPC, they had to get it from the back stock room, price was $13.50, picked up 2. These are new old stock not refurb
I've been having intermittent issues to the point that I now have the modem directly connected to the first outlet in the house and even disconnected the splitter in the wall. Then I have to use a long ethernet cable to the router. I still have issues. So I bought a new modem and router even though I've tried two different surfboard models and two different routers. Still have some issues. I think xfinity is sending a signal to my modem and making it reboot. At least this one reboots faster. Next step it to connect it outside in their box. If still, then I'll call them over. They won't do anything over the phone.
Ok, I have tested 2 modems.
netgear CM500 and the ARRIS SB6183.
Both are having multiple daily reboots. Now I'm sure that it is not the modem dying but Comcast is doing something bad to our modem.
I check the modem Event Log:
Critical (3) Unicast Ranging Received Abort Response - Re-initializing.
Critical (3) Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received - T4 time out.

I don't see the same thing, but similar on the CM700:
Critical (3) Unicast Maintenance Ranging attempted - No response - Retries exhausted
Critical (3) No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out
Critical (3) SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Loss of Sync
Critical (3) No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out
Warning (5) Lost MDD Timeout
This one isn't rebooting as often, but when I do notice no internet, I try to log into it and I can't reach it. It usually gets reconnected quickly, but I have had to go reset it manually once or twice. I'll have to check the logs when that happens. I just tried going into Xfinity forums to post the problems, but I can't get to the page.
